It's been pretty much the same price for 6 weeks now, but the exchange rate has improved a little so the overall price is a little lower.

To get the 41.80 price you will also need a Foreign Currency Exchange Free card (like most Cap One) otherwise your CC company will tack on a 1-3 % surcharge or you can use Amazon;s converter program and they'll charge you about 4% for the convenience.

Which people? Only people who don;t have the set or who bought the DVDs by accident.

This set is 100% US friendly -- no region locks, no 50HZ on BD, no SD PAL material. It will play on any US bluray player and TV unless your machine is broken,

Weren't they coming out with books based on these silly films?

Picked this up the last time it came up on SD. Its awesome! I watched all the movies and they look and sound great to me! Glad I didnt spend more on the US versions!

I checked out the other set (the limited edition DVD(reg 2 on the DVDs)+BR set), Sold out from most retailers, and going for at least $200 from others, and it isn't anything special IMO. It is basically just disks, and the packaging isn't even great relative to other special edition sets I have seen... like compared to the HD-DVD 1-5 collectors set, I am thinking a GOOD collectors set is on the way with cool stuff in it OTHER than disks for x-mas, just a guess. I don't care about the collect-ability vs. the movies, so going for this one was a no brianer, although for me after currency conversion didn't work out to the same price... I guess USD-EUR changed a bit since you posted, because all of the other prices you quoted were the same, it was after conversion that it went up to $43.50 USD for me. Still a bargain, not including special features disks (which will never watch anyway, maybe the kids will but I doubt it), $5.40 per movie is a great deal IMO, with the extras disks just a bonus, and will save a ton of room on my shelf too vs. 8+ cases since only 4 cases for the who set, very nice and eficient. Perhaps I can come out ahead on this, I have the treasure chest collectors edition HD-DVD from a while back(It was like $15 new when HD-DVDs were being fire-sold, and there are is all kinds of neat and decent quality crap(collectibles ) in there besides the movies themselves, and each movie comes in a really cool case. I also have with several of the single movie BRs, I can probably sell all of that on my local company's Outlook classifieds and come out ahead, sweet.

Yet another box set that we got a steal on from Amazon UK(I have jumped on mye 10 or more so far?)... anyone have a clue as to why they are cheaper from the Uk for what IMO are also better considering being region free? Considering the additional costs to ship as well, it is counter intuitive IMO, I don't get it.

A couple things -- it's £ to USD exchange you need. The rate hasn't varied that much in the the last 24hours.

If you check out with the Amazon Currency Converter on then it will be $43.50 since Amazon is using an exchange rate of 1.647USD/£ -- click the exchange rate tab at checkout and Amazon will tell you .

If you check out without the Amazon Currency Converter then you will be charged around $41.80 since most major CC will use the most current exchange rate (right now it's 1.589USD/£). BUT unless you have a CC that doesn't charge a fee to exchange currency, the CC company will add an extra surcharge or 1 to 3% (still less than the Amazon surcharge of 3.8%).

If you order a good amount of stuff from overseas it definitely is beneficial to apply for a card with 0% fee like all the Capital One cards. There are several others with 0% fee, but most of them tend to be the Premium cards that have an annual fee. Discover Cards are now free, but not too many international sites accept it so it's more limited usefullness.
