Home Depot DeWalt sliding miter saw

Thanks for the replies. I want a 12" slider, so the Makita one is out, although it's a great price for that saw. I hope the Home Depot BF deal is indeed for the DW718, if it is, I'll jump...

Crapmaster-Look at the Home Depot website. I've contacted Home Depot when I saw the DW718 on sale last year for $329-when they were clearing them out. If you look at the SKU, the DWS780 replaced the DW718. The saws are different, but the kept the same in store SKU. Unless they have a stockpile of DW718 saws laying around, I would say it is the DWS780. Based on reviews I've seen, this is a better saw anyway. One cool feature is the included XPS, which rather than shooting a laser, it has bright LEDs that shine on both sides of the blade, showing the actual shadow of your blade while you cut. I hope to buy one of these. Good luck!!!

Just checked online- The saw on sale is the DW718SP. From everything I have seen, it is the exact same saw as the 718, but the model number is different for special pricing through the distributor for Black Friday or other specials they want to run. The 718 has been gone for a a while now. I was looking to get a saw, but I've read some things about how the new model is better than this one. I know from messing with the 718 while it was in the store, the rails ride is not smooth. This also means these saws on sale for Black Friday have been sitting around in a box for at least a year and you can find them for close to this price online without a sale. I'm still finding myself debating on whether to go ahead and buy one anyway, or hope for a great sale in the spring like they did this year. In March of this year, I missed out on a 12" sliding Ridgid miter saw with gravity rise stand for $489. I'm thinking it might be worth it to wait a few months and they might throw this deal again.
