So neither one of these is what you are talking about? Just checking. You think I would be better off to go with satellite internet??

 No. That was just a wireless network adapter for your desktop so you could make your desktop wireless. Then you could connect it to your Elevate 4G instead of doing the USB tethering.

Thankfully this trick fixed it for me: Go to the AT&T Mobile Elevate settings page (http://att.elevate) Advanced Settings --> WiFi and change the basic rate to "802.11 b/g compatibility". Apparently having it operate in with Wireless N doesn't work right. What I am having trouble with now though is how to get USB Tethering working, it looks like it's trying to do a lot of the same dumb stuff it was doing before. Dreadfully slow page speeds, even while ping times are fine!! |
