You can use an electric acoustic with it but it's aggravating. You have to turn the TV way up to hear the game music over the guitar, plus it's a little static-y sounding without pickups. I prefer to play it with my Les Paul.

Should I be able to learn guitar with this? I'm about 3/4th the way through but still suck at guitar with out seeing the flying notes.

This game does nothing to teach you how to really play guitar.. it's just how to play some songs which isn't the same as really understanding the guitar IMO. Get some guitar lessons and learn music theory to really learn how to play. To me the game is just Guitar Hero with a real guitar.

Kind of looking that way. Plus I already got bored with the same stuff over and over. bummer should i bought some drums instead.

If you're broke, a used Squier Strat or any cheap electric would do the job. One that stays in tune would be nice. I have guitars ranging from $100 Squier Bullet and $900 Ibanez, and the Squiers are great for the price and a lot of fun to mess with. Perfect for this game.

IMO this will help you learn guitar...big time. But you do need to learn theory too. This game will really push you and complement your independent study with books, tabs, Youtube lessons, etc. It will suck up two hours of your time real quick when you get into it.

I'm gonna get this just to have the second cable, I think. They're $40 alone.

I need to d/l the bass content. I'm glad to hear it's available!

Thank you for this, was debating this for my son, but wanted to get for teaching him to play. I will hold off.

FWIW, I disagree with Amber :-) Lessons are $20 to $25 each, so there is little risk in trying this. It will teach you the strings, chord shapes and positions, and timing. Ten times better than guitar hero for learning.

BTW it's showing $45.27 for me...
