I think this keyboard was $25 or so last year or beginning of this year with Staples coupons. I didn't jump on it because at the time I didn't see the "need" for one. But damn was I wrong, I want one now just because it's a backlit WHITE keyboard. None of that green crappy looking MW3 Razer keyboards. Anyways, I might just jump on it since many SDers are posting positive reviews on this. But on the contrary, it's refurbished and I'm kind of skeptical. So can someone shed some light on Meritline's refurbished products?
This keyboard was $30 from Staples as a Black Friday deal 3-4 years ago. That's when I got mine. Recently retired it in favor of a mechanical board (WASDkeyboards V1 w/ MX brown switches), but the Logitech served me well for the most part, really, there's a lot to like - great backlighting, media controls, decent scissor style switches.
i would get a mechanical keyboard, but i cannot find one to try out. None of the stores have them on display. or at least i cant find them
Heard about every great thing about this keyboard, bought it a year ago, and simply didn't like it due to its low profile keys. Sometimes even if the 99% likes it, you could still be that 1%. Just saying.
This is crazy. Everyone is talking about how great this keyboard is, and I agree! It's amazing. Your right, it is probably my favorite keyboard I have owned as well. But I had to sell it. What's up with the ghosting?! Do none of you play fps shooters? This keyboard is flawed and it sucks. WTF Logitech?
You can't play your best on Battlefield 3 when your keyboard isn't registering all your key strokes. The logitech had to go. What a stupid flaw.
Have the Razer Black Widow now.. noisy but accurate. Sweet! Not a Razer fan boy tho. Rolling the G700 Mouse and Logitech G930 Head Set. Would have kept this keyboard if it wasn't for the ghosting.
I was very happy with this keyboard, and I still keep it around as a backup.
It has GREAT aesthetics; by far the sexiest looking keyboard I have ever owned. Gets lots of compliments. The backlight is nice, and I really enjoyed the low-profile keys once I got used to them.
As a warning to gamers, however: some people report issues of GHOSTING with this keyboard. Some versions cannot do common gaming button combinations, such as W+Shift+Space (in some games that would be forward, sprint, and jump by default, kind of important!). I have fairly odd customized controls, so it wasn't an issue for me and I never ran into a problem. But if you're getting this keyboard for gaming and typically use a default-ish setup, make sure you do some research first!
It makes a pretty nice travel keyboard if you take off the wrist rest. Very small footprint for a full-size keyboard. It actually fits easily into my laptop bag (though it is a large bag designed for a 17" laptop).
This model is just a little oudated IMO, for a little more you can get a K800. Last BF the K800 deals were $50. For just plain being cheaper, still a good buy though.
even though the k800 the wireless version of the regular one, the feel is still different. The plastic white casing on the back of the k800 makes it feel somewhat cheaply made. also the keys have a more rougher texture as well.
Love this keyboard at the same time Hate it. bought 4 in the last one year. if one key is pulled out (happened 3 times with my 2 yr old) it just can't be fixed. the engineering logitech employed in fitting the keys makes it difficult to get the key back on to the board once removed. Be careful if you have kids who have access to this keyboard. once a key removed forget about fixing it. I am ready to buy another one if the current one breaks.
there's a trick on putting the keys back. There should be a plastic white brackets under the keys that you need to spread apart. What I used was two mini screwdrivers. Toothpicks should work as well. You would see that the white brackets would be more aligned to a clear box. You can now snap your keys back into the keyboard easily.
