16GB Barnes & Noble Nook 7" WiFi Tablet (Pre-owned) $97 + Free Shipping

i'm looking to get my daughter a tablet for Christmas and was leaning towards the kindle because we have prime membership and thought there could be some perks to that. To all the tech savvy folks, what is your take on that? Kindle or Nook?

I'd think the Tablet is significantly faster than the Color, but I also think B&N has the Tablet locked down more than the Color. I'm not an expert at the Tablet like I am the Color, though.

Do you get to use all 16gb internal storage when running CM10? I think B&N giving you just 1GB to store your own files is BS.

It looks about right. We've had 2 NC's for a year (just sold one for $129 with CM7 on it on CL), and with smaller girly hands, it's possible.

There is still 90% stock remaining, which tells me the demand is down (or they have a ton of stock). Good news - they may have to drop this price even further in the weeks ahead.

One thing I really enjoy about the NC is the feel. It's the perfect size, feels great to hold, and the screen is outstanding. And, with two boys hammering it all year, neither one had any scratches on the screen (no screen protector). The big fail on these is the charger. They are too stiff, and will eventually fail. Any aftermarket charger will take all night to charge the unit. Bad design.

I bought one of the Nook Colors Overstock.com had a couple weeks ago, and it came in an original B & N box with all retail packaging and miscellaneous accessories. Since this comes with a one year warranty, about which I just sent a message to Ben's, my guess is this is indeed a completely refurbished unit with new screen, bezel and whatnot; the same as B & N sell.
I'll reply to this post if I hear from Ben's that this is a B & N warranty.

So, like the Color Nook I posted and purchased, this should be EXACTLY the same as the "certified pre-owned" item you walk into B&N B&M store and purchase, without, of coarse, paying state and local sales tax. (Note: these ARE NOT the "trash" available at Cowboom!!!)

You may not be an expert but you got this right on. Nook Color can be booted from a micro SD to run whatever flavor of Android you want. There is even ICS available though the hardware doesn't really seem up to it. The Nook Tablet is harder to root. I didn't realize the difference a year ago when I got my wife the tablet intent on rooting it. I ended up exchanging it for the Color.
