Sero-P goes up to $40 but only allows you to use three android smartphones. The HTC Hero, the LG Optimus (non-elite version), or the LG Marquee. All of these are old phones and only 3G. Any other smartphone will require an additional $10 premium data add-on. For me, cost after taxes is under $58 per month.

What you get on the Sero-P plan are things like GPS and unlimited mobile-to-mobile (any cell carrier...not just other Sprint mobile) and 4G (if it's actually in your area. You pay for it regardless if you can use it though which is bogus).

If I stated anything incorrectly, please someone fix that.

its a hit or miss - i had ordered online a couple of times and received calls saying they will have to cancel the order - only once have I gotten a call from the rep willing to connect with sprint and indirectly get the phone into my account.

I'm on SERO P with four phones and in process of upgrading all. I'm on the $50/1200 minutes plan. All of the newer smartphones require a $10 premium data monthly charge. I have a Nexus S and iPhone. I will actually be moving all phones down to the $30/500 plan since I always forget that unlimited mobile to mobile is included.

I will be upgrading my last 2 lines to the SIII. I was told that for SERO P you can only order from Sprint online or the SERO telesales. I initially ordered the iPhone from Best Buy but when I went to activate they tried to put me on an entirely new plan. What a headache! I had to return the phone to BB and order online from Sprint. When it came I had to call to activate and then we went over the $10 premium data charge.

that being said, i have been able to upgrade at bestbuy in the past by calling sprint ahead of time and having them place a note on my account saying that my line was eligible for an upgrade at bestbuy.

it might take a couple of calls before you get a rep that will do this, but once that note is on the account, it's more likely that when bestbuy calls in to activate the phone with sprint, the sprint activation rep will go through with the upgrade.

I have the same SERO plan and out of contract as well. Telesales confirmed that I can get the S3 for $50 with free shipping after upgrading to SERO-P. They've added notes on my account and told me to call back next Thursday to place the order.

Besides my SERO plan I have a "Friends & Family" 2000 plan with the unlimited Data (added by rep / no charge 2006) and I was initially told I could do an S III on that account by paying the $10 "Smart Phone" charge and the $10 "4G LTE" data plan charge for the 1 of 2 phones out of contract. Called back to verify and was told no, I was misinformed and that I would have to change my plan. You can call and talk to different reps like I did, maybe you can get somewhere with them. Apparently I called to many times because they now have notes. Last time I called they said "we already discussed this with you" and that was that.

Spot on with your info. No go for the upgrade price if your still under contract (as was already stated on page 1).

Just got off the phone with the SERO rep, another helpful one. If your out of contract then you should be good to go with a regular SERO account. When you buy the S III under SERO you will be informed that you will have to pay the $10 + $10 fee on top of your current $30 for 500 minutes plan. Still a good deal if 4G LTE is going to be available in your area soon.
Might want to call though, when I try to upgrade online it wants to change my SERO $30 / 500 minute plan to a 450 minute plan at $69.99 a month, plus the $10 Premium Data charge (forgot to add this "Premium" in my previous post) for a total of $79.99 + tax. Not a good deal at that price point.

One thing you'll learn when dealing with the Sprint reps is they don't know everything and you can't believe everything they tell you. SERO users have upgraded through BB, RS, and other retailers. Whether the rep meant it's only for BF, I doubt it.

The difference between SERO and SEROP is that SEROP gives you unlimited mobile to mobile, free GPS, and the ability to use an older smartphone(3G), the cost is $40. The one exception is the iPhone which will cost you $50 a month. Any 4G phone will also cost you $50 a month.

By old plan, I assume you're on a SERO plan, is that right? If so, no you won't be able to keep the old plan, you'll have to upgrade it to SERO Premium at $50.

Sprint has "Supposedly" cracked down on that, they want you to buy the phone from them.

Yes, $36.00 on top of the $49.99 + whatever tax rate you pay in your area. Still saving $150 + Tax on the $150, which is another $12 here @ 8%. Rep was saying that the free activation offers are far and few now days.

this is very true! I get a variety of answers every time I called Sprint!~

My plan is "Friends & Family 1000", 2 lines for 50 a month, free texts. I added $10 data for he privilege of using the TP2 on one line. I can't find anything cheaper out there. I am using the dumb phone and happy as a clam. However, my wife is really getting fed up with the crappy TP2. I tried to switch her to the LG Marque but she's not impressed with it. S3 would be great if we can upgrade ... without changing plan that is.
