The "NEW" (3 in one) Logitech Bluetooth Illuminated Smaller Keyboard K810 for PCs, Tablets, Smartphones $73 + $6 Shipping(or $81 FS w/Prime & a wait) (Was $100/been out 4 weeks)

That looks pretty neat for the newer model, I was keeping an eye out on the old models going on clearance but it may be worth it to wait for a very SD in a few months for this one. My one concern is the rechargeable battery - it's probably lithium, not replaceable? So I'm wondering what it's life is (after multiple recharges). Will also be weird charging with PC but not being able to use it while PC is on... 3 year warranty is cool. Like the easy switching. I also like that it's small with no number pad on the right side but I guess they didn't include a separate unit if you wanted to use one, the Microsoft keyboard I have now, has a separate number keypad if you ever feel the need, but I'm too lazy to pull it out the few times I want to use it, lol.

It says that the battery will last w/o a charge for 1 year w/ 2 hrs typing per day, w/ no backlight used & a month or more with it being used w/ backlighting. There are 4 different brightness settings plus off, or you can let it auto adjust to the amount of light available & it goes on when your hand is near & stays on until you hands go aways after 30 seconds or so.

Also it can be used when charging, I have tested it although it comes fully charged.
Also, "Use the USB cable to recharge, even while you type" per above Product Features.

The battery can be changed, as the booklet(yes, I read the booklets ) shows how to remove it, if necessary.

It is a very High End product with a solid build, as all Logitech items are.
(I bet I have almost all of them...........)

PS, I'd like to know who thought it was not a good price, it's only been out weeks, almost no one has them in stock & if they are, it's $97 or more..........
they haven't been below $90, let alone $80......................

Thanks for posting this OP. I've had this on my radar, but was concerned about the chicklets style keys. How do they feel when typing?

They feel just right, like most of the other Logitech KBs, I have about 7 different ones.

Oh wow thanks for sharing your experience, much appreciated. Ever since I got my Dell tower last year and hooked up the HDMI to my TV I have maybe used the monitor that came with it and my desk maybe a total of 5 times. I've become a total couch (er futon) potato using keyboard and mouse wirelessly on a lap desk in front of my TV. So I would have to remember to charge it overnight periodically as the PC would be about 12 feet away from me, hence a determent to my recharging while using. (I know, lazy). I guess I can recharge at the desk and do it when I run Malwarebytes full sys scan that way PC won't be on for nothing.

I love my Logitech mouse, so I had my eye on the older model of the illuminated keyboard with the unifying receiver but since my Microsoft keyboard is bluetooth and I dont't have any hitches and I love the range, I think this is worth waiting for.

Thanks again. I certainly did not comment on it's price being too high. It's a good deal considering it's brand new. I personally just tend to buy things after they've been out for a while and the price has dropped. I read the manual online but it just shows how to remove the battery for disposal at the keyboard's end of life, so I guess theoretically it could be replaced...

I can't speak to the K810, but the K800 just has standard AA Sanyo Eneloop rechargeables, so they could be replaced very easily. I've had my keyboard a bit over a year and have noticed that they don't last as long as they may have before.

Oh interesting, let's hope this one is similar. Thanks for the info. That was my concern. That with rechargeable batteries, repeated chargings can drain them so that eventually you want to buy new rechargeable batteries to hold the longer charge. I guess time will tell with this model how the total life of the battery plays out. The battery life between chargings is really great as OP has mentioned and from what I read in the manual. So you probably don't have to charge it as often anyways....

I have a 2007 iPod, by this point in time I was sure I would have to replace the battery. However I have always been very cautious about never using any kind of cable or device with it that wants to continuously charge it. I just use an aux cable in the car, I've never used docking stations with it, I charge it up full and run it until almost empty before putting it on a charger. So it does not spend that much time connected to a charger at all. My battery life to this day is extremely long and I listen to it for long periods of time. I can't help but think that this has contributed to the long life of the batteries. I have treated other device like phones the same way with similar results.
