Tokina 11-16 mm f/2.8 $549 for Canon @ Adorama Free Shipping

Man I bought this the last time at $650 and I sold it for $580, I guess I can buy this again! I guess they are clearing out stock for the second version?

I wanted this for a while... but then I decided to get a full frame SLR... so this is no longer on my wishlist. Good deal, but not for me.

From what I've heard, it works on full frame Canon cameras, but with vignetting on focal lengths wider than 16mm. It's not too far off from a prime lens anyways.

Tokina is coming out with a 16-24mm 2.8 for full frame cameras.

In case someone don't known:

There are two versions of Tokina 11-16: Pro DX (old) and Pro DX II (new). The Pro DX need focus motor in your body to do auto focus. The Pro DX II auto focus on all compatible body. For landscapers, auto focus on wide angle lens is not that important.

Yeah, but its not designed to work on a full-frame camera, so while its usable at 16mm, that doesnt mean its sharp like it is on APS-C.

Id get the Rokinon 14mm, Tokina's 16-28 or 17-35 (or their 17mm prime), or Canon's 17-40 before I'd use the Tokina. And those are all about the same price, or cheaper. It's only if you have both a full-frame and APS-C body that maybe it'd make sense to own it and use on both.

The Pro DX II also updated some of the coatings to reduce chromatic aberations and flare, which are two of the weaker points of the lens. Haven't had a chance to use it, so I'm not sure if it works as advertised, but it would cost more than this anyway
