I agree - just bought my kingston 120gb ssd at amazon too.

As fot Staples - all the Staples round this way in Maryland don't, and never did, carry Solid State Drives (they don't carry many internal HDDs either - usually only one for Desktops and one for Notebooks). What they do carry is a large assortment of external HDDs - both the small pocket size and larger desktop sizes; why, I never understood.

Whenever I asked about SSDs in the store, they'd refer me to their website, and I'd ask them for more detailed info -- and of course they couldn't answer me, especially why their prices were higher than their online competitors.

Around here, none of the big names - Staples, Office Depot, Office Max, Walmart, Best Buy, or Target seem to carry SS drives, nor any of the same type of items where "Price Matching" might apply on items we all typically hunt for during sales.

IMHO, I think they all conspire against the consumer so they do not have to Price Match.

So where do I turn? To Slickdeals of course - and to Amazon.com. and I still purchase many items at my Target using their card (you get an add'l 5% off) and my Target Prescription club coupons (another add'l 5% off on top of the other 5). It works for me :-). :-)

Scored one for $37.97 after 15% off, $20 recycle coupon and 7.75% CA sales tax.
I printed the online price which has a Check in Store Availability link and didn't even have to ask for price match.

Yeah, Maryland sucks - plain and simple. Most of those YMMV deals/ price matches are almost always a bust; a waste of time and gas. At least there are a couple of microcenters around now to ease the pain. BTW, I have found SSDs in Staples before (and I've been to quite a few hunting down deals before). The ones that they carry are crappy old v200 Kingston ones (not the newer, better v+200). You must have some really slummy Staples around you.

Exacty what I told the guy, why would it say check store if it's not same price! I called corporate and they said it was online only price.

Yeah "A 120GB SSD" for $50 isn't automatically a good deal if it happens to be some OCZ drive, which it almost certainly is.
This Kingston drive is much better quality than anything OCZ has.

What exactly is wrong with OCZ drives? Any proof?
