You can run Netflix on here, but you'll need to download and install the 1.8.1 apk. You can find it here. Tested with works great.

I'm contemplating going to pick up 2-3 more as Xmas gifts at this point. It's no iPad or Nexus, but for the price, I dunno that you can beat what it's able to do as a tablet.
Great. I just purchased a Nexus 7 from the Sears deal. I'll try them both out over this long weekend and do a direct compare. Although I could get three of these for the price of one Nexus.

I'm mainly looking for web surfing, fantasy football, email, Skype, FB, apps for kids, movies on plane, etc... Sounds like the Uniden will work fine.

Also, Google Chrome doesn't seem to work, at least not for me. Not a huge deal, although Chrome is a real nice browser, so hopefully an update somewhere along the line will get it working.

Netflix streams very well. The Internet is slow to load pages but not terrible..not sure if that may be the browser or just the tablet. Skype works very well. I'm very impressed. This is no Nexus 7 and should never be compared to such but for a beginner tablet or one for kids, this is an incredible value. I also moved all apps to a mini SD card which may help speed issues. I ordered the HKC tablets from Walmart for $100 each last week as I was looking for a budget tablet for my kids so I'll have to see how they compare. These may work out...

I Picked up the last one in Sterling, VA -- It plays videos pretty good from Youtube.

How are you guys installing apps on it? I cannot seem to find the app store on my device.
follow instructions here to add google play or download apk files and just put them on the tablet via usb or microSD card...open file manager to apk files and install them

also might try amazon app store (but ive not loaded it on my polaroid)

Google does not recommend any task killing applications in android 2.2 and above. Google Play is all you need. It has free apps.

This is very much you get what you pay for tablet. Expect problems and no support. It's fine for young kids but don't expect to do much of anything on this you would a real tablet like a Nexus 7. I would equate this more to a large phone of 2+ years ago than a modern tablet.
Its a little better than you think.. its no nexus..but it has its place for certain people/teens/older adults for a very budget tablet for music, video and basic gaming... also as a cheap ereader with extra functions... I agree with your ICS task killer comment...but with this tablet ive found it to help out a little, not sure why...bc ICS should be able to manage apps without having to kill them... but I guess there are some exceptions...

with battery management tips you should be able to get more than 4 hours.. dimming the display to 50% is not that big of a change in display for indoor viewing and will net you a big increase in battery life... thats my experience anyways...

---- also anyone checking out the pmid4311 (polaroid/uniden/emerson 4.3 inch) for 48 at big lots right now and for 44 on black friday... here is my little info on testing it out... its going to be about the same as the 7inch posted in here but the smaller form factor.. might work well for kids who want a smaller one than a 7 inch...

New to the tablet world. How does this compare to the Nook Tablet? We bought the refurbished Nook Tablet yesterday that was on sale for $99. Would this tablet be comparable for my 6 year old, or should I stick with the Nook? Thanks! Smilie

well this being about 40% less in price... its the better value for a 6 year old IMO...but the nook tablet is clearly the better table at not bad for $90... personally I would get this tablet and see how it works for him (youll have to tinker either one... adding the market to this one is easy... and side loding apps is easy as well - with the nook youll have to work a little bit more to put CM9/10 on it to get the most out of it)... if this one isnt up to his liking then return it with receipt within 30 days and you can always get a refurb or pre owned nook tablet for about 80-90...

Thanks for the input. I think I will go pick one of these up tomorrow and compare the two when the Nook comes in. If anything, I can keep the Uniden for my 6 year old and the Nook for myself!

Runs Temple Run like a champ, also tried out Extreme Road Trip 2 and it worked great. This is quite the deal for $60 to be sure.

Watching a twitch.tv stream @480p on it and it looks and runs way better than it has any right to be for a $60 tablet, lol.

Maybe I just had expectations so low going in that I had no choice but to be impressed.
That's impressive for a tablet with 512mb of ram. Sometimes having a lower resolution screen frees up processing power to the gpu.

How's the off axis viewing angles on the screen? And what's the quality/feel while using it?

Thumbs up here.
This is done in the exact same vein as I post my ChinaTab deals in.

Solid value, exceptional price, and extra perks - for no extra charge.

Downside is:
Low Resolution 800x480
No Bluetooth
No GPS

Bluetooth and GPS should NEVER be expected at this pricepoint.
Low resolution is an easy trade-off here and so is the less-than-stellar (likely) battery life.

Upside is:
Just about everything else.

Repped +4, OP.
