The problem is that you misunderstood the trade-in explanation. When you click the 'Trade In' button on Amazon's website, they lock in the current trade in price for you for 7 days. This gives you 7-ish days for the item you mail in to Amazon to make it to them. That's all that means. This has nothing to do with when you receive the DVD that you bought from this offer. You can trade in items at any time and the trade in price can and will fluctuate. It's not like a return where you have a limited number of days to use it. The trade-in feature is basically selling your copy of whatever to Amazon, which can be done at any time.

doubt that very much. i have close to 200 trades so far this year, and know exactly how this works. you said it yourself - you lock in the price for 7 days, but if you have nothing to send in time -= what happens?

I honestly can't remember the last time I even used my DVD/Bluray player. I stream everything now. I even stopped going to redbox because I'd rather spend a little extra and not have to deal with renting/returning the disk.

DVD's will soon go the way of the dinosaur.

Your lock in price expires and you have to resubmit the trade-in value. Like someone said, "Amazon is smart" and usually when you resubmit them, they've lowered the price they'll pay you.
