Wait, you ARE the guy who asked if anyone could comment on the "horrible 3x optical zoom", right? So several people commented -.did what you asked and tried to teach you that almost any DSLR that costs under $800 comes with a lens with about 3x optical zoom - and then you get snippy in response about getting a photography 101 lesson? People were trying to teach you that there is nothing horrible at all about the standard kit lens that comes with most DSLR cameras.

But if all you're interested I'm is having a huge zoom, what are you doing in a thread about a DSLR camera? No DSLR camera comes with a kit lens that is much more than 4x optical zoom. In fact, I can't think of many lenses you can buy for any DSLR that zoom much more than that since, as anyone interested in photography knows, the bigger the zoom range, the poorer the quality of pictures at all points.

But, again, if all you want is a point-and-shoot that will zoom in on the Arc d' Triumph from the top on the Eiffel tower, why did you come to a DSLR thread and ask for information in the first place?

$150, big zoom factor, single lens--yeah, you're in the wrong thread. A P&S is definitely more up your alley. You can get a decent one with a good amount of zoom for that price, for instance this guy:

Then DON'T shop for a DSLR! You literally just described a point and shoot, so why are you in this thread? You're like the guy in the Canon 5D thread that complained about his point and shoot camera being better image quality than a $3,000-$6,000 camera because the point and shoot has onboard flash. Give me a break.

Take a hint that NONE of the responses to you are agreeing with you, and move on. And next time, be inquisitive with your posts when you don't know something. Being accusatory towards the unknown is the mark of a small mind.

Picked one of these up at a nearby Walmart. We had just been discussing looking at dslr's so the op's timing couldn't have been better. On a side note, anyone have any experience with the sd/ compact flash adapters?

there appears to be some in stock 15 miles from me, so i ordered one and it went through. just got the order is processing email. hopefully ill be able to pick one up.

I have the sony a100 but I think its too complicated. Anyone know how the sony alpha a100 compares to this?

About the same. You're probably better off just keeping your current lens(es) and getting yourself a newer body, like the a37, if you want something different. Especially as your camera has noticeably improved image quality compared to this Olympus. However, how do you find it too complicated? Just turn the top dial to auto, or one of the scene modes, and you're good to go. The Sony a pretty easy to use SLR, overall. Any frustrations you have with the simple controls isn't going to completely go away with anything but a simple point and shoot.

Main reason I hate my sony is 99% of indoor light the camera doesn't focus and refused to take pictures. I messed with iso settings and the different modes but still the same problem. Ill see how this compares to my sony.

My order apparently got delayed so we will have to see. Thanks anyways.
