prices on 40" vary by features and manufacturer
http://blackfriday.bradsdeals.com...-tv-deals/ you can get an emerson for $200 or a samsung LED 120hz smart tv for $700 |
|
The reason this one is more expensive is just because it supposed 3D, which I could give a rats ass about. |

and 120hz does matter over 60hz. maybe not to some people but it does matter. yeah, if you don't care about a solid brand name, you don't care about 3-d, you don't care about 120hz..... well, ya then you can get some crap big screen tv. also for some 40-47inches is more than enough... depending on room and viewing distance. |

Noob question on 3D
Looks like a nice set, and I like keeping ahead of the curve with 3D capable, but how many 3D sources are there? Comcast I have no has none, don't remember my FIOS having anything a year ago. Are we talking buying bluray disks as the only option short term only (or maybe long term)?

And Samsung and LG arnt solid brand names? You are clearly buying the wrong stuff then. If you actually knew how 120hz worked, I could have a big discussion about it. I wasnt really saying it didnt make any difference, just that it isnt that big of a deal as some people seem to think. It makes some differences in some areas, but for the most part, its not really that big of a deal. 120hz TV's arnt true "120hz". Same goes for 240hz TV's. Its a moot point anyways, as I had already stated, almost all TV's these days are 120hz/240hz. I dont really consider it a "feature" anymore. Last edited by falleng0d; 11-18-2012 at 07:30 PM.. |

if you care about it then it's a big deal, if you don't then it's not.. seems pretty simple. but if you do care about 3-d it's going to cost more to get one which makes sense that a 3-d is going to cost more than one without it which is why those bigger screens or similar size screens are cheaper. as you said 120hz does make a difference in some instances, it's up to each person to decide of that matters or not. if it does then it's worth it to get a tv with it. if someone is ok with getting a giant tv with 60hz and no 3-d well that's good for them but not everyone is fine with that. and some of us can't afford the 1k price tag of the big screens with those features. which leaves a smaller screen in the 40-47 inch range. |
