Appreciate the input alot REP+ We have a 18mbit connection from our ISP. Which in reality ends up either being 3mbps, 8mbps, 12-18mbps, on occasion in mid-day when no one is using the internet, around 20-30mbps. The median of the 4 is the expected speed I end up getting when I testmy.net our connection. I'll take a look at that article, CEROWRT, and that router. I'll reply again if I have more questions that arise from that!

![]() Doing some reading makes me think CoDeL is the only way to maintain ~100ms pings while roommates might be watching movie or youtube. Meaning I'll have my eye out for WNDR3700's or 3800's for BF/CyberM yes? |

In other new I just got QoS and CoDel set up in my OpenWRT Attitude Adjustment beta 2 VM. It was actually pretty easy- see the Quickstart Guide half way down this page: http://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/uci/qos I'll have my TL-WDR4300 on Wednesday and can give it a try. The one potential missing thing is BQL support in the network switch's driver, but it sounds like its not required: http://www.bufferbloat.net/projects/codel/wiki

This is probably a pretty basic (dumb) question, but as a new proud owner of one of these, how would I go about using it as a wireless bridge? Have an IP phone from work that I'd like to plug into it, and use this to bridge wirelessly to router in a different room. Would this also be able to function as a repeater to extend signal? Other router is an older Airlink AR410W "super" G (which doesn't have any 3rd party firmware available, I checked...)
Do I need OpenWRT to do so, or can I use the WDS bridging in the stock firmware? OpenWRT seems like a pain in the neck to get installed... and that's coming from a former developer

I do this with DD-WRT on an Asus N-16. |

NOTE:Browse to your existing router admin page or program and note down the following details, you might need them in step 15 - current IP address (not 192.xx.xx.xx) - subnet mask - gateway IP address - router MAC address or clone MAC address 1. Downloaded the firmware for this router from http://www.gargoyle-router.com/do...actory.bin 2. renamed the downloaded file as gargoyle.bin 3. Connected router to the computer via ethernet cable 4. Browsed (on IE/FF) to 192.168.0.1 5. You will prompted for login use (admin/admin) 6. Click the link on the left menu that says something like "System" 7. Find and click "Firmware upgrade" link 8. In the Firmware upgrade page, click button that says something like "select file" 9. Select the file "gargoyle.bin" from step 2 10. Click "upgrade" button 11. Wait for about 5 mins 12. Browse on (FF/IE) to 192.168.1.1 13. You will be prompted for password, use "password" with out the quotes 14. You will be prompted for new password, type in your new password and jot it down some place safe 15. Refer screenshots at http://www.gargoyle-router.com/wi...ateway.jpg to configure 16. enjoy!! |
