Here are my steps to put OpenWRT on this WDR3600 router.

I followed the post in openwrt forum https://forum.openwrt.org/viewtop...66#p181966 and here are the steps I followed

NOTE:Browse to your existing router admin page or program and note down the following details, you might need them in step 15
- current IP address (not 192.xx.xx.xx)
- subnet mask
- gateway IP address
- router MAC address or clone MAC address

1. Downloaded the firmware for this router from http://www.gargoyle-router.com/do...actory.bin
2. renamed the downloaded file as gargoyle.bin
3. Connected router to the computer via ethernet cable
4. Browsed (on IE/FF) to 192.168.0.1
5. You will prompted for login use (admin/admin)
6. Click the link on the left menu that says something like "System"
7. Find and click "Firmware upgrade" link
8. In the Firmware upgrade page, click button that says something like "select file"
9. Select the file "gargoyle.bin" from step 2
10. Click "upgrade" button
11. Wait for about 5 mins
12. Browse on (FF/IE) to 192.168.1.1
13. You will be prompted for password, use "password" with out the quotes
14. You will be prompted for new password, type in your new password and jot it down some place safe
15. Refer screenshots at http://www.gargoyle-router.com/wiki/lib/exe/detail.php?id=screenshots&media=screenshots:07_basic_gateway.jpg [gargoyle-router.com] to configure

Thanks OP! Great deal. The tl-wdr4300 is also $49.99 after $40 rebate.

Both the TL-WDR4300 and TL-WDR3600 use chips from Atheros and are well supported in the newest OpenWRT (trunk) and in the newest version called Attitude Adjustment (release due soon).

Attitude Adjustment supports an algorithm called CoDel which can make a huge difference in how well your internet connection works while in heavy use (for example, doing a VoIP call or Skype while uploading or torrenting).

Awesome, in-depth (but understandable) discussion of CoDel here:

I'm looking for a router that will cover my 2700 SF home. My current router loses connection at the edge of the house constantly. Does anyone have any idea how the range on this thing is?

According to online chat, the rebate isn't valid on the Ebay purchase unfortunately.

Yea how does this compare to a RT-n16 which is supported by Tomato RAF version specifically the RAF version is for QoS...

Which sounds like similar function to this Codel thing (like gaming or VOIP/Skype calls etc)

This is more comparable to the Belkin Play N600 HD with the dual band, gigabit and open firmware. RT-N16 is only single band and the RT-56U is twice this price. Might get one of this as an AP if you don't get enough range from 1 router

Edit: I've never used OpenWRT. Is it as easy as dd-wrt and tomato to flash and setup?

Looks like they've now jacked up the price to 129.99, so it's now 89.99 AR which was their normal price before they had a rebate. Sneaky Newegg... LMAO
