I Need Some Bedroom Furniture
I need to purchase some new bedroom furniture, but know very little about how to get value for my money. I went to a store today. There was some nice stuff there, but I don't know what's good. I'd like to get something well built and have the funds to do so, but I don't want to over pay either. When I was a kid I had this bed and dresser that was solid wood. My mother stained it and it was very well constructed. My nephew is using the bed today, but I have no desire or ability to do any staining myself. Does anyone here know how to get value for my money or even where I should be looking?I'd like to get a platform bed with some drawers underneath the bed. I did find this online [homefurniture2go.com], which represents the design I'd like to get, but again I don't know if it's any good. I'd also need a nightstand to two along with a a dresser. Thanks for any help. We all find out who we are when nobody's looking.

Thanks for the reply. I don't live near a Rooms to Go. I live in a rural area. Whatever I buy will purchased on-line and delivered. What I'm really looking for is how to get value for my money and get something I like/want. I just don't know much about furniture or what's good. Thanks again.

You know that one you listed does NOT include the drawers right? They are over $200 extra for 2 drawers. I just got the below for my son and he loves it. It is all solid wood.

Check out the beds at Ikea. We have an iron bed from there and it's still in great shape after several years of use. However, I'm not fond of their mattresses as they're too thin for my taste, but lots of people I know have Ikea mattresses and really like them. Last edited by Zoe Moon; 12-29-2012 at 11:28 AM.. Happiness and depression are both feelings, just like joy and anger. It's not feelings that give us problems. It's what we do with them that makes the difference.

Depends on how much you really want to spend. Rooms to Go and IKea are imo mid to low end quality places for furniture. There is nothing wrong with them, but it is not going to be durable and well made imo when compared to say Thomasville furniture. Of course they are no where near as expensive either.
You usually get what you pay for which means someone like Ethan Allen or Thomasville at the retail level for high end. That said, you can get excellent quality furniture from quality manufacturers like Hooker Furniture et. al. online from a number of sellers who will white-glove ship it to you without tax usually from the Carolinas. Check out a site like basista.com who sell furniure from a number of manufacturers at various levels of quality (you do have to know what you want and call them for a quote). Usually you can go to a retail merchant near you to checkout the furniture and then go order it online to save money (though it depends on the brand)...or you can use the online sites of the various manufacturers. I bought most of my furniture online with a good amount of success following this method and saved quite a bit of money. |
