I don't think those adapters for the car can handle the power draw of a coffee maker. Electrical heating elements typically pull at least 1,000 watts. But an urn is an idea. |

If anyone is seriously considering doing this, you should consider using something like Square for your smartphone (https://squareup.com/). It'll enable sales to people who don't have cash. That is, if you can convince people to give their credit card number to some random coffee vendor in a parking lot.

You made $2,415?
At $4 a cup that is 603 purchases (let's ignore your repeat customers buying at a lower price) Let's assume the people waiting in line are really cold and 60% purchase your overpriced coffee. And let's say it took 30 seconds for your customer or you to pour a cup and handle change for the transaction. You said you had a 40 cup urn, so every 40 cups you had to brew more at a convenience store (or did you bring it from home? You didn't make that clear). For fun let's just assume that took 10 minutes. So you managed to: - Find a line of 1000 people (the vast majority of which were waiting for hours and did not think to bring their own) - Serve coffee nonstop for 7+ hours - Didn't have the store or police question you for your illegal food cart Impressive... |

You need quite a few permits and licenses just to have this business and sell food. You'd probably need some sort of preliminary health inspection. Then on top of that, many businesses pay cops to be at their stores on black friday, and they ban sales by other businesses on their property. e.g. my local walmart does not allow for girl scouts to even sell cookies on their property, and they have paid cops to keep things orderly.

I did not just find a line of one thousand people, I went around different major stores not one store. I did did not serve coffee nonstop, I went 2 days in advance, I did this with my wife, she served the same at different sections of the lines and no actually no one questioned me when doing this. Time flies when you serve coffee, it is hell making the coffee but it was worth it

This isn't for everyone, but it's people that talk about all the reasons why this guy didn't make money that don't get this. I'm pretty sure he made a lot of money selling coffee and I don't think it's illegal. (I may try this myself and will laugh when I make a couple hundred bucks. I won't post how much I make due to all you naysayers
.) When girl scouts sell cookies or people have bake-sales/car washes, do they get permits? I think he's fine as long as the stores he's at don't say anything. I like the entrepreneurial spirit of this guy and the fact he had the guts to post his plan for others to try and make money .
