The VAT should be removed from the actual sales price (£17.99) then shipping added. Basically you are paying the same exact thing as a customer in the UK is paying (plus US shipping of course). You are either paying the VAT or a UK buyer is getting a £10.01 discount and a US customer is only getting a £5.64 discount on the purchase. Normally US customers should pay about 17% less than a UK customer preshipping. I've sent an email to Amazon CSR to see if they will look into the isse. |

UPDATE - I chatted with CS and got a refund for the difference which was $8.33 YMMV on if it works for all. Last edited by Butcher98; 11-19-2012 at 12:57 AM.. Reason: refund |

I went through checkout as if I was having it shipped to the UK and here was my final order summary: Items: GBP 23.33 Postage & Packing: GBP 0.00 Total before VAT: GBP 23.33 VAT: GBP 4.67 Total after VAT: GBP 28.00 GBP 28 is the price listed on the item page. And this explains why when I ordered the Hitchcock set from amazon UK the price I paid was GBP 83.33 instead of 100.00, which was the item price on the product page. VAT was being deducted from my order. I thought it was a system glitch. ![]() Learned something today. Thanks! Updated to resolve VAT issue: Apparently Lightning Deals do not get VAT deducted out. From Amazon's help page on Lightning Deals: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/c...=200543730 4."Price" is the price paid by UK customers. The Lightning Deal price displayed on all Offers is the price paid by all Amazon customers wherever they are based and irrespective of VAT registered status. The savings applied may differ from the Lightning Deal Discount displayed for different tax jurisdictions So you get screwed for VAT on lightning deals. Live and learn. I did this yesterday for Harry Potter for 28 GBP and tonight I tried to cancel that order and place this. Their system said it was too late to cancel the original order. Live chatted with Amazon and they cancelled the second order I placed tonight and honored the Lightning Deal price. Got me a discount on the original order.
