Yes, only a few of them offer the $5/year without auto-renew. However, Amazon auto-renew is pretty hassle free. You can cancel the renew any time after the order is processed.

Amazon is the only place that I'll order "auto-renew" mags. To cancel the auto-renew, you go into your Amazon account and click on 'Manage Magazine Subscriptions" and cancel the auto-renew for the corresponding magazine. I usually wait until I receive my first issue or if I'm renewing, when my account is updated and reflecting the extension.

I've done it many, many, many times with absolutely no problems.
