I bought this at $550 back in September. Great TV, I've been pleased.

I have this TV from a deal a couple months ago. Great TV, great picture, and surprisingly very good sound. Only drawback is that it is very reflective (like most plasmas). With the blinds open on a sunny day it would make a better mirror than TV.

with tax and shipping, i will hold off for the time being.

hmm, if my main video source wasn't going to be an HTPC i'd find it hard to bite on this....

Why would a HTPC prevent you from buying this? Possible burn-in? I'm asking because I currently have a HTPC hooked up to a 50" DLP which I'm planning on replacing with a 55" or 60" plasma and would like to know more on what to avoid.

yeah, mostly worried about burn in, since i'll probably get lazy and leave XBMC on or something. i know burn in really isn't an issue these days, especially with the pixel break-in CDs/DVDs, but i'm still not sure i want to spring for a plasma. the price is obviously EXTREMELY attractive since i'm on a tighter budget now...

Hi, LCD TVs are typically thinner than plasma TVs (opposite of what you stated). As far as how long they last, from experience I would agree with this. I've had many problems with plasma displays and virtually none with LCD displays, but I don't think that would sway my purchase too much.

The Panasonic beats this LG in picture quality (see CNET's review [cnet.com]). Considering Costco gives an extra 2 year warranty, that Panasonic deal is pretty hot. My one complaint is only two HDMI ports and no side/front ports but it's not too big of a deal.

I want to get a 50 inch T.V and Im going to try to get that 50 inch toshiba led from sears, if that doesnt happen - what other 50 inch t.v is floating around that is going to be around the $400 mark with free shipping? Would u happen to know?
