The first Wii was like this as well for a few weeks... They could be readily found (at least in Texas). Closer to Christmas was a different story.
Might be a bust but it is too soon to tell. I for one am enjoying my Wii U 10x more than when I got my Wii.
Nope - I'm locked in your mom's basement with Selma hooked into Slickdeals matrix style.
Just wait until people start playing multiplayer on there. I haven't yet but it actually looks really fun. Going against each other without the other person seeing your screen. I think that's the selling point. Just wait until after thanksgiving when people start getting together with families and play the Wii U, then these might fly off the shelves.. if not then Nintendo probably didn't do what they wanted to.
I don't get it just because the Deluxe Version is Black commands $50 more ? I don't care about Nintendo Land and for $50 I saved getting the White Version. I just consider it getting New Super Mario U for free.
Imagine of the White Version included New Super Mario Wii U inside the box.
Mark my words: This puts the nails in Nintendo's coffin.
I think the only reason why this console is selling as good as it is is because all the scalpers snatched it up...looking at the prices that its going in the secondary market it looks like the sellers are breaking even or losing money. I think the recession also has a hand in suppressing whatever market there was for this console, not to mention people are happy with their existing game systems.
These are now online again according to their website which shows in stock. They just went online 10 minutes ago (I have a script monitoring the page). I no longer need one since I got one easily locally from Best Buy).
It is 8GB vs 32GB (not 16). You also get the vertical stand and gamepad cradle. Also, if you register the Nintendo at the Club Nintendo website you get 10% "points rebate" off anything bought through them. Also, for every 500 points earned in that points rebate, you get a $5 credit for future purchases.
I'd bet you can upgrade the memory of the basic unit easily and cheaply. So the only big thing you get for the extra $50 on the deluxe set is probably Nintendoland.
Well, if Nintendo was smart and would have allowed us to expand the memory via SD card, it would be a different story. So strange, we already went down this path with the Wii until Nintendo FINALLY opened up the SD card for game storage. And, after all that, they do it yet again with the Wii U. For now, the only options are external hdd or thumbdrive. I'm assuming you could use an SD card with a USB adapter, but I haven't tried so I can't confirm. Memory is so cheap these days that it's a shame Nintendo didn't up the base model a bit. That 3GB usable space is going to go pretty quick...
as fyi..walmart customer service brought a full page text copy of wii u return policy showing we cannot accept returns if the product is opened.this is when i tried to return basic wii u two days back.
