Auto Insurance question (claim?)
Story:
On Sunday I found out that my car's rear bumper was hit when a family member mentioned that they noticed a dent in my car when they came home Sat. night - the only place that I went to on Saturday was CVS, and thus I believe that it was hit there (the car normally is parked in my driveway) - I went to the store and explained, and they gave me a copy of the parking video (attached) - I am 99% sure that this is where it happened, as that is the only place I went on Saturday, and on Friday I had washed the car (including going around it with a paper towel to dry off the leftover water) and would have noticed it then, or if I got hit while driving, I would have noticed - my question is if I should bother filing a claim or reporting it to the police, because of how ambiguous the video is (I'm not convinced if that is the car that hit me or not, but it's the only one that comes close during the time I was there), or is it not worth it?
Options:
1: don't waste any more time and just fix it myself (I think I can drill a small hole in the dent, drop a string through the hole, attach something to the string, and "pull" the dent out, and then just paint over the hole)
2. report it to my insurance (AAA) (they will likely make me file a police report), and have me fix it at a repair shop (my estimate is ~800 for a new rear bumper, of which I would be paying $500) (would they increase my rates?)
3. not bothering with AAA and seeing if I can get it repaired at a different place for cheaper (~500?) (would I end up with a "car has been in an accident" if anyone pulls the Car-Fax of this car? )
what are your suggestions?
P.S. - my car (2010 Hyundai Elantra) is the one behind the sign, and the car that might have hit me is reversing out of a drive thru (not sure what they were doing.. got bored of waiting?) - my concerns are that this is in broad daylight and no-one seemed to notice, but at the same time, they move slowly and unless there was a sound, I don't think anyone would have actually been looking there either
