In for 1 on a great drive! |

Some machines will require 7mm drives, possibly ultrabooks. You get one of these drives instead of an external because this is the highest performing short of an SSD or HDD/SSD hybrid (other issues for those) with the best warranty which is still valid when you use it internally (unlike the external). This is a pretty sweet price. |

And yeah, this is pretty much the gold standard of SATA II laptop hard drives. 7200 RPM makes a huge, huge difference vs 5400, and WD's quality (specially on the Black drives) is unmatched. |

someone could buy a new porche, or a used civic and spend thousands suping it up...both will serve their purpose, but the porsche will be faster and the civic will be cheaper but more DIY
i don't know why people are arguing about this so much...honestly i think seagate hasn't gained it's rep back from the catastrophe that was their HDDs a few years ago, and even if you like Seagate the drive will be some basic 5XXX rpm drive while WD Black is about the best mechanical drive there is |

I have the XT 500 in a MBP and love it, but if you need the extra space a 750 GB 7200rpm for $70 sounds like a good deal to me. The little 4GB SSD that I have is not bad but won't make your machine fly. The best in terms of speed might be to consider a 256GB SSD deal over the upcoming weekend, if you can drill down your space requirements... I think 1TB 7200 Seagate 3.5" was $49 bucks the other day as well. Crazy how prices have come down. Last edited by kamaaina; 11-19-2012 at 12:32 PM.. Called the San Ramon store and had worker physically check. She had six. 10 mins later as I got to the specific aisle they had TWO. I grabbed both of them and checked out. |
