I agree and disagree with the above. Yes, prices will go down to $99, but that is true of almost all technology. Someday the Nexus 4 will be $99.

WP7 does make sense if you want a solid performing 4G phone with no contract for cheap, but $279 is too much for this phone when you can get a 920 for $450.

I agree that the Nexus 4 is a better option for an unlocked phone at the price that Groupon is asking. However, getting the latest version of the OS is not important for everyone.

In sum, this is a great phone for the right person, but $279 is too much, even with the shop discover discount.

Couldn't say it any better. $279 is just too much for this phone. I think a better price would be about $200. Nexus 4 is OOS right now and there is no easy way to buy the 920 for $450 that I know of. I do need a phone for my wife who does not care that much for the latest stuff but I have trouble with the $279 price point.

$99 is the absolute most I'd pay for an EOL device. Period.

too bad this doesn't work on tzones.

Perhaps you were being sarcastic, but seriously what is wrong with a phone that is snappy, easy to learn, and has nice big icons for people with poor vision? They should be marketing these phones to seniors, not placing them in Ke$ha music videos. The greying market is HUGE and many of them have some serious coin to drop. Android and iPhone have locked up the twenty-somethings market. Windows should go after middle age and seniors.

The problem with seniors, is that they are whiners and can't learn. I like and respect them, but I never hope to sell anything, that has more than one step to them.

My 65 year old friend has a HTC Titan. He also walks around with a pen and paper to take down addresses that are emailed to him, so he can input them into the GPS later. It's the same with phone numbers and everything else.
HTC just gave him (actually I did) a device that gets him to:
Whatsapp (to text internationally)
Viber (to get free voip calls, but that doesn't work)
Skype (I don't even know if that out yet)

The moral of the story is, that you can't teach an old dog new tricks, just train it a little past what it is used to

This has LTE, better camera,full offline maps, which Nexus 4 doesn't have.
Plus, it has a better screen.

By that definition, majority of android phones in the market ar EOL.
This phone will get WP7.8 update and will continue getting more support from Nokia.
