There's like 5 redboxes within 2 miles of me, and it's cheaper than the horrible amazon prices. Obviously the difference is selection, we need a blockbuster-type store to come back, because this redbox or nothing option sucks.
So this deal isnt for you? The option for . . .nevermind

why not just go to redbox and rent a MUCH higher quality blu ray disk $1.50
I can use my video credit to rent one of these right now. When my family is sitting around on an evening later this week and wondering if there's anything on other than Punkin Chunkin I can stream the movie on my sister's TV. If that scenario doesn't come up I can watch the movie next week or the week after with my girlfriend after we've returned home. It's more convenient than a 15 minute trip to the Redbox.

Moonrise Kingdom is an awesome movie!
The only reason I came into this thread was to say this. I went to see this movie in the theater on a whim and wound up being seduced by it. I see maybe one or two movies a year and I picked a good one for 2012!

he specifically brought up the superior convenience of amazon instant video, I'm showing how that's not an issue for many people. I don't get which part of that is confusing you.

I agree. I did not buy a blu-ray surround sound system and a 50 inch led TV to stream movies over the Internet. And my kids like to watch some of them a second time before I take it back to any local Red Box. I reserve it with my iPhone, the quality of blu-ray is worth picking up an actual disk.

Why not just use my $3 VoD promotional credit and save $1.50 + gas?

I hate red box. First off your lucky to have a decent selection of movies. Secondly because the idea of looking up a movie online seems to elude at least one person in line in front of you the wait could be forever. Then.. you have to go back out later and wait in line for yet another person.. who for whatever reason needs to read the synopsis on every single movie.
If you are really lucky your red box will be outside or located inside mcdonalds... where you don't want to hang out in the evening. YAY
I will spend the extra .50 for this deal.

Honestly, this is what the regular price of renting a movie should be. Come on, they are transferring it digitally, nothing is manufactured and we cant really steal it. For 1 buck a movie, i would rent all of my movies digitally! Wake up Amazon and movie companies, this is a good way to do it.

Is there any way to pay for an HD rental from a PC? Or is it only possible from an HD-blessed device?

I want to rent Brave in HD for later this week, but can't get to my ps3 atm...
