This is the first year I've been Premiere Silver and I love it. Free shipping is the best. Now, early Black Friday access. Best Buy has the worst crowds on Black Friday. I'm glad I don't have to wait in line.
I sort of wish Sears would have done the same thing for its higher end members. I'm a Platinum Reward member and get jack sh!t from them.
I got the deal at Amazon and it just arrived. Am thinking of returning it as it runs too hot just being connected. HDTune is reporting 58 C steady state with no use. The max on these is supposed to be 60. I cannot imagine how you can do any amount of backup on these without exceeding the max temperatures. If people are taking the drive out and using it inside something with fans, it should be fine but not in his enclosure. No way it is going to last 2 years always connected without it failing at some point.
Anyone with this unit checked the temps with it just sitting? Want to see if I have a bad unit. Any SMART utility will be able to read the temp.
It isn't Black Friday yet, but it is in the flyer that they are handing out in stores for the sale (limit 5).
I believe the flyer is also up in the Black Friday forum here if you want/need to see it for yourself.
I see that eight years later, Best Buy is still working hard to separate angels from demons. I wonder if Best Buy is still trying to sell $20 USB cables to naive boneheads angels.
I can't believe it's been eight years since Best Buy announced this strategy. It seems like two or three years ago. Wow, time flies.
But their at least they sell HDMI cables at reasonable prices! It makes we wonder how they're still in business.
Just checking again to see if anyone tried a price match to Staples. I just got home a little while ago (too late to start a chat). Just wondering how that works when the price doesn't even show up until check out? It's not like you can provide them with a direct link that shows the price.
good thing i got this from amazon last week with free shipping no tax and it is here today via UPS. THanks amazon
you got this deal from last week but you didn't tell us?
i got 10 from amzon but it was this sunday. no tax, free shipping, so i wonder if those who spent $2500 a year with bestbuy should be happier or not.
Is it just me or are these black friday deals not what they used to be?
I remember that Black Friday meant a $300 laptop will be sold for $150. Nowadays a HDD like this $150 is sold for $100 on BF. This HDD should be $75. Even the TF300 was $300 from its $350 msrp. I heard the news about BF as a dying trend. You can often get BF deals before and after BF now. What is going on?!
This is the reality of the economy we have been living in for several years. Retailers simply cannot afford to mark loss-leader items down the way they used to. In a flush economy people come in for the great deals and then spend a lot more $$$, but in a poor economy every just grabs the stuff that's marked way down and leaves. A business is in business only as long as it's profitable (unless the government intervenes, of course).
