I have the exact same dilemma. You could send your oil out to places like the Blackstone Labs [blackstone-labs.com]. It cost $25 and I'm planning to try them out on my next oil change.

However when I first bought my truck I did the first oil change at 1k and used Mobil 1. Instantly noticed this tick when it started up / idled. Googled it and sure enough, for whatever reason that oil doesn't work well with my HEMI. Switched to Valvoline SynPower w/ Mobil 1 filter and things have been hunky dory since.

Not trying to start a war on oil, this filter is basically for people that already use Mobil 1. It's a quality filter, doesn't have cardboard in it and will save you in the long run because you don't have to change your oil @ 3k.

No matter, I bought 12 filters a few weeks ago from Advanced for $7 a piece and free shipping with one of their coupons. Good deal if they have your part #.
