I agree, fisheye is fun. But most of people just do not know how/where to use fisheye lenses. My point is, don't waste money on something you would not use very often. BTW, I don't like 14-24 exactly because of its limited filter option. |

I wish it wasn't a $100 premium to get this lens with a "removable hood"

Just popping in to say that I LOVE this lens. It's really well-made -- it feels more substantial than my pricey Nikkor lenses. I bought mine used off of Craigslist and it is my favorite lens. I have the Nikon mount with the chip. The manual focus is nothing to worry about...set it on 1.5 feet to infinity and you're good to go.
For me, the fisheye NEVER gets old. In fact, I just got back from a short vacation and shot the ENTIRE vacation in fisheye.

Is it worth the extra $20 for the Focus Confirm chip on a Nikon mount? It says it also handles exposure and metering among other things. I'm not so much worried about the focus aspect as much as the metering. I have a D90 and would like the in-camera meter to work if possible. TIA
