It's cheaper to manufacture and consumers should see prices dropping. Advancement in controllers/firmware can negate the nand endurance issue. Ultimately only an issue for high write situations which would usually not be the case for regular use. Larger drives also allow for more unused space which helps to lower write amplification making a drive last longer.

The 830 @ $150 is not normal pricing, it is clearance pricing. If the 840 goes that low it would be a reflection of lower manufacturing costs or trying to promote sales of a new product. People who insist that the only acceptable price for an item is the lowest it ever was probably have no real need for it, or will end up missing their opportunity to get it at very good pricing while it is still available. Ultimately, prices continue to go down as performance increases so if you don't need it now, just wait.
