OOS for shipping at Best Buy and Sears

This thing uses 390 watts of power (many other sets use around 200 watts) . It contains a CCFL backlight that contains mercury (so properly recycle and don't take a sledge hammer to it with).

If you pay for this item with Best Buy gift cards purchased now at most Krogers you would earn enough fuel points to save you a total of $98 on Kroger gas which would in effect be an extra 17% in savings, see this link for more complete info on the current Kroger 4x fuel promo.

^ I don't advise this. paying with GCs on big items loses extended warranty that CCs give you.
Additional 5% CB using chase freedom
OR
10% shopdiscover CB + 5% discover online shopping CB + extended warranty upto 2 years

I'm counting on Amazon not Walmart. There will be deals like this all weekend, it doesn't hurt to try getting the vizio.

yea my TV plays MKV 720P or 1080P NO PROBLEM! It's a Sharp. It plays it from not only a USB stick but also an external HDD.

but as with my previous post.. you are stuck with the sound only from the tv speakers most of the time (if someone has a tv that will output the digital sound through the tv's spdif, let me know the model/brand cause i def would look into getting that for a new tv).. but the spdif output is only for the OTA HD.

actually my OLD memorex tv.. actually would output the digital audio from the hdmi inputs through its spdif, so i was able to hold off from getting an hdmi receiver because i still only needed to run one optical spdif from the tv's output to the reciever. the tv acted as the switch and not the receiver whch is how it is now. i think it was due to the hdmi copyright crap on why this rare feature is no longer around.

how bout the digital sound? does your tv pass through the digital audio through its spdif output from your movie file? or do you not have a receiver? i havnt found any tv that would pass through the dts/dd from a media file through the tv's spdif for the surround sound receiver to decode. usually it says sound not supported, or only plays it in 2ch stereo which sucks. yea im one of those guys where big nice tv needs surround sound.
You are right. I'm not an audiophile. I just use the standard built-in TV speakers. Those sound set ups are simply out of my budget.

Would this TV be better than the 60" Vizio that Amazon and Walmart have?
Not better, more convenient by a mile though, Not to say this TV isn't a good TV, but it is not LED like the Vizio. The Sharp Vizio brand debate could go back and forth but Sharp will win in the eyes of most. If you want to roll the dice at Wal-Mart, best of luck and I hope you get one! You won't have a shot on Amazon to get one. Many people run scripts (little programs that refresh at a rapid rate) and will get the TV and make it sold out before you can hit the add to cart button on a lightening deal.

We're hijacking the thread a bit, but I'm curious about this as well. Big Grin

For decoding surround (DTS) I have to connect the wdtv to my receiver with an optical cable. I wonder if surround sound works just as well from a USB TV. If not, I think I'll stick with a standalone media player for now.

Whether this shows up for delivery or not matters on where you live.

Sigh, just get it!

Then either wait for this to come back or find one (Android on a Stick). Congratulations, you now have a 60" Smart TV with greater capability than you can get from the apps they will give you on the Vizio.

Add a USB hub, and this [meritline.com] wireless keyboard or something similar and you are rocking.

And don't forget to get your favorite 2-3 TB external HD to connect to all this stuff for your entire movie collection.

Who loves you Wink

Alternatively, you can set up 1 click buy, spam CTRL+R, and keep your mouse cursor at the 1 click buy button. Good luck.

Don't get me wrong, it's good price for a 60" TV. But for $700 , I would rather it had several USB ports and the ability to play all (most) compressed content. It seems like it is cheaper or legally easier for the manufacturers to push 3D. Imagine having a PC that didn't have the codecs to play back compressed media files.
Again, I know that 3D is still evolving, but I would rather pay $700 for a Samsung or LG or Sony (if that's possible) that had more practical features. I would feel like George Costanza getting pissed off knowing that his date is vomiting up the food he just payed good money for.
