I am 4th and 5th on the list for the next shipment at my dayton store. I almost had him talked into selling me the two he had, but he said they got an email from corp. telling them to hold the rest on hand for the sale Thursday. Huberheights Ohio will put you on the "pre-order" list. Reps to the op. This is a smoking deal. 1 in 7 twist sold me on it!! Remember they tend to like heavier ammo. 62 gr mtac PMC bronze should work fine!! Cabelas usually runs that at around $6.50 a box so load up!!

I haven't done the research and I typically don't ask questions that are so wide-angle -
Is this a good rifle to buy for general purpose and home defense? I want to have a very nice rifle for range and field shooting - and also something that I can have prepared at home in case of an emergency. I would want various accessories.. maybe a nice RDS, laser, a tac-light... Any input on if this rifle is for me? I don't ever anticipate the need for such a thing - but I also want to know that my rifle is going to put down an assailant quickly. One or two shots (even not very well placed if in a panic) should be enough to disable an attacker. Thanks for any input. This is within my budget for a rifle, but it is right at the top end of what I wanted to spend. I'd love to know what you guys think about my situation and if you have alternate ideas. I have only owned a 22 before but have (on a range) fired every type of firearm I can think of. Also, I'm in Upstate NY - so I'd have to follow NYS law in regards to acquiring the item. |

This is a great rifle for home defense. Especially if your home is about 150 yards away. |

Thanks OP, I would kiss you on the mouth if I could (but married, and I play for the straight team ), I never would have known about this deal had you not posted. I haven't been this pleased and excited about a rifle since my FN FS2000 (awesome BTW), and not because of the price, just having what I think is the first every fully Troy built rifle ever made! And the FS2000 was about $1000 more than this, holy crap was this an AWESOME deal. I haven't weighted it yet, but it can't even be 7 lbs! Feels wonderful. Kinda sucks that they didn't include ANY Alpha rail accessories (at least the rubber grommets to make it more comfortable to hold, but at this price, WTH).According to the literature in the box, this is a limited edition, and each one is hand inspected by Stephen Troy, according to the cert of authenticity that comes in it that *looks* like it is signed in ink, not sure. I don't now how many will be made, but I got serial #00052*", Schweet. I have a feeling this will be a rifle that wil be worth alot more in a few years... This was their last one or I would have bought more as well, this is a CRAZY deal!! For the first time in my life I have purchased a black gun that already has almost everything I need done to it, just need to put on one of my Eotech 512's with a Mako 7X optic behind it, add an ambi single point sling mount behind the castle nut, and get a few picatinny sections to add to the alpha rail to add a Fenix 458 Lum TK21, Magpul AFG2, and a Grip Pod, all of which I already have. No mods to the actual rifle not needed I don't think ( but I don't know how the trigger feels. BTW, fill out the survey in the box and they also send you a free Troy t-Shirt and the bottom of the grip so that you have a second compartment free!! BTW, it is chrome lined, read in the ops description, or on their website. It isn't just your normal chrome lining, it is some special formulation that is supposedly better than straight chrome lining. Woo hoo, what a beaut! Signing off, gotta snap a pic or two to send to my nutnfancy and my other buddies and make em jealous .
Regards,
Mike C. |

For a nice red dot sight, figure on spending $400 or more on an aimpoint or eotech sight. Forget about the laser... that's mall ninja stuff. It will dispatch an attacker very quickly. |

Also, nice gun but the handguard is a little ridiculous. I appreciate the folding front/rear sights though. Last edited by Caleo; 11-20-2012 at 07:56 PM.. |
