2.4 band is shared with everyone around you too like a hub, if there are alot of crappy old b/g devices (neighbors) your real throughput goes way down as well. ppl using 40mhz channels doesn't help either. If you have clean 2.4 space then not a problem. I'm upgrading to 5ghz now, but alot of devices like phones/tablets only do 2.4 band. Wireless connections require overhead (every ssid beacons, re-transmits, collisions, interference etc), so if 150mb is the rate available, only a certain percentage is used for your actual data payload. the higher the data rate, the more headroom is open to data payload and additional clients. edit: grabbed one for office to replace old g router, ty op. If you are not in a rush to receive this, you can also buy it on eBay from newegg. You will receive $0.30 ebay Bucks for each router. It's only $0.30 but it adds up.

I'm on the fence about this. It's cheap, but it's also pretty low-end with only 150Mb Wi-Fi and no GbE. I could possibly upgrade my parents' router, but they don't have any 802.11n devices, so it may just end up being a slower router (the router itself, not the Wi-Fi) than what they currently have.

So what will this router be good for?
I still have DSL (I know) at home and now have one router (netgear WNR2000 v1) and I would like to maybe spread more connectivity to the rest of the house. but I mean as long as I have DSL the speed won't change much will it? |

Got this from Newegg on the last deal. Flashed with DD-WRT and setup as a repeater. Works fine for a while and then various devices in the house will lose network connectivity completely. Tried setting DHCP both on and off on the RNX-N15. With DHCP on I split the range of IPs to be different from my router but no good. Ended up being a big headache and it landed in the trash.

would this router be a HUGE upgrade from THIS router? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Pro...6833122016
i keep getting dropped signals for my netgear when under cable internet.... and also, the rosewill one has more wireless data rates... so hmm... suggestions? |

![]() FYI to all: Stock firmware SUCKS on nearly all routers. *This has been a public service announcement*

Can I use this to extend my network? Currently use an Asus RT-N16 (with Tomato) which does a good job in the basement, but devices upstairs have a struggle to stay connected.
Was not sure if different devices have different firmware whether there would be a problem? |

$15...seriously
I went to Subway and spent $15 on a lettuce sandwich. This router has no HDMI, it won't cut the grass and the batteries are not included. ITS $15....it does EVERYTHING the average to semi-advanced home/office network needs....EVERYTHING. IMHO When I receive mine, I will try to see if it does cut the grass and I will report back
