This. I have a Best Buy store within a couple miles of my house. After I read this thread I went up to my local store to try and get a look at it. The only one they had on display was the 6001.

Where do you find this panel number? Is it on the box or back panel of the TV? Just curious so I know what to look for when my unit arrives later this week. Is there a "good" number I need to look for?
Great; how did the 6001 panel/display look to you?

From what I know the version number (e.g. CH02) appears on the box label, near the model and serial number information.

I thought the 6000 looked pretty good. I could tell the picture was slightly worse than some of the more expensive models sitting right next to it but it wasn't horrible by any means.

I also saw the 6000 model at Sears a couple days ago while I was killing some time before a dentist appointment. The picture looked pretty good there as well (and they were selling it for over $1,000).

I'm reading through the AVS thread now trying to figure out which panel number(s) I need to look for to tell if I've won the "panel lottery" or not. Worst case I will hook it up to my PS3 and DirectTV HD box, fiddle with the settings, and if I'm not satisfied take it back.

On the box or behind the tv where the serial number and other numbers are. It is the one labelled "Version"

I think someone else also mentioned it would say the version # somewhere in the settings screen.

From what I've been able to piece together it sounds like the screen types are TSxx, CHxx, and AHxx. This TV (6001) seems to have the AHxx version.

Sorry Mega, I had to make a correction to my above post. I got my model #'s confused. I never saw a display model of this TV (6001), I've only seen the 6000 model in stores.

Still waiting for my TV to arrive. Once it gets here I'll set it up and post my experience.

just got this today. Delivered to my door. Version AH01....

I don't feel like opening it up. Based on the reviewes i'm going to bring it right back. I should have just told the best buy guys to not bother bringing it in.

Any word on the quality of the AH01 version? Worth keeping?

Heard samsung duped everyone with this 6001 crap!

How about anywhere? Best Buy, Amazon, Target, Walmart, etc...its not specific to your model. A universal should work, or I believe this would have a 400mm x 400mm pattern, maybe someone can confirm that. Does the 'mn' at the end of your name put in you MN like me? I bought a wall mount from Amazon that I'm going to return, PM if you might be nearby (north of Rochester.... Stick Out Tongue )...

Too bad about the panel lottery, I must have lost big time....

Got my TV today, version CH02 for whatever that's worth.

Hopefully I will have time to set it up and mess with the setting later tonight.

Well I finally had time to set this bad boy up yesterday. I tried using the optimum settings posted earlier in this thread but I think I need to do some more tweaking. I am impressed with the picture. I think it looks really good via HDMI watching my DirecTV service and looks outstanding when watching Bluray movies on my PS3.

My only issue is that those settings that were posted seem to make it just a little too "orange". I would say for the price I'm pretty satisfied. The one thing I really wish it had was at least one more HDMI port. I have three devices I use with my TV (PC, PS3, DirecTV). My last TV only had one port so I've got an OPPO automatic HDMI switch I can use.

Sorry for being lazy not going through all 26 pages, but can you please point out that "Optimum Settings' post? I changed my Dynamic to Movie and I like it a lot but I would like to see what else I can do.

So where does all this leave us? These are the settings I'm using right now, and the TV looks and sounds as good as I think I can get it. This is the result of about four hours of tweaking. Also, note that I'm using HDMI to connect my consoles to the TV.

1. PICTURE

Mode: Standard
Backlight: 20
Contrast: 90
Brightness: 50
Sharpness: 30
Color: 55
Tint: G50/R50

1A. ADVANCED SETTINGS
Color Space: Auto
Gamma: 0
Dynamic Contrast: Low
Black Tone: Dark
Flesh Tone: +4
Motion Lighting: Off

1B. WHITE BALANCE
R-Offset: 20
G-Offset: 30
B-Offset: 20
R-Gain: 25
G-Gain: 25
B-Gain: 30

1C. PICTURE OPTIONS
Color Tone: Standard
Size: Screen Fit
Digital Noise Filter: Off
HDMI Black Level: Low
Film Mode: Off
LED Motion Plus: Off

1D. AUTO MOTION PLUS
Auto Motion Plus: Custom
Blur Reduction: 7
Judder Reduction: 5

2. SOUND

Mode: Standard
SRS TruSurround HD: Off
Auto Volume: Off

2A. EQUALIZER
100Hz: Two notches down from highest "+" setting.
300Hz: All the way to "+" setting.
1KHz: Two notches down from highest "+" setting.
3KHz: All the way to "+" setting.
10KHz: All the way to "+" setting.

3. GAME MODE: Off

And that's pretty much it. Blacks are black, white is white, and every color in-between seems as close to "normal" as I can get them. Again, these settings may require your own fiddling to get "just right," but this seems like a good starting point.

Anyway, bottom line: the picture quality is superb. You will not be disappointed.

Credit goes to zell8902 who posted this from an Amazon review earlier in this thread...
