Well primary use is to stream movies from internet and from my personal storage.
So a good browser experience and media playing capabilities.

XBMC support seems to be coming along for Android too so that is another major thing.

I got Logitech Revue and want to replace that. I hate how it is Android but not really Android with custom Adobe Flash integration (you cannot use any other browser except the crappy stock Chrome) and architecture (reason why XBMC doesn't work).
Also tonnes of app work on my Touchpad with CM9 but not on my Revue.

Don't care much about gaming and stuff on my android mini pc.

Bluetooth support is good to have as I can use my bluetooth keyboard (touchpad)

The biggest requirement is good community support with regular updates/fixes and stability of the device.

what kind of quality, and do you have a wired connection there?
once you approach the $100 mark, you can start comparing to a "real" x86 computer, which would be better at just about everything (except the apps, those are more of an android-only thing)

Are you thinking about Raspberry Pis and building your own kind of thing? How powerful are they?
I can do wired connection on my current setup if that makes it more stable.
Quality? 1080p video capabilities are absolute requirement.

If I try enough I could pull this off but looks like the system is OOS (newegg/Amazon).
It does look like a better bang for my buck.
But the size and power consumption (I am assuming it requires more electricity) are possible turn offs and of course the DIY nature. Also I would probably need to look for deals for components.
But thanks for letting me know about this option.
I would prefer someone would do the work for me and charge 10-20% premium than going through all this ( I know many folks get a kick out of doing all these DIY project but I am lazy )

So back to android on a stick ... do you have an opinion?

you would still need quite a bit of "DIY setup".. after that, I would go with a raspberry pi for the following reasons:

1. it's the cheapest
2. it plays 1080p and has Ethernet
3. it's very reliable
cons:
it's not android, no android market, price is more like $50 after power + case + SD card

P.S. - the power consumption on such a PC is ~15W (idle/low-power usage), the power consumption of one of these android on a stick is 5-10W, and when you compare it to the hundreds of watts that your TV likely consumes, it's not that much either way
