to be honest, price/performance is very good...

"starting at @649" when i tried to customize, it seem no difference from regular price.

but they processed the order manually, it means i can't get 5% cashback from cashback website.It sucks!

Did you have to give any proof of student ID..or anything like that to check out using the Education site? I also have some Sony Rewards points, wonder if I can use those @ checkout....

No, they did not request any proof.
Select "education store" from https://store.sony.com--->shop all-->education store

Register with your regular email adress, and choose a local schools, anyone.

After you login, some words would show up at the left top of webpage.
, like "education" and the name of the school your chose... Then customize your laptop, add to cart. During this, there should be a online service window pop up, if not, just wait or call them.
Tell them, "I'd like to purchase a laptop at education store, but it seems that the price of my favor laptop is just same as regular price, blabla..."

I got mine, Brand new, specially built 17 inch laptop via another user here for 15% discount, very happy with the purchase ( was nervous but it went just fine)...looks like he got wrongly accused of scam, when he tried to help others. Loss is all yours, folks.
