how to open bank acount in Hong Kong?

About 4 years ago I opened a UK bank account through HSBC while living in the US...not for business purposes, or tax avoidance, but just as a way to get my ducks in a row for what was an almost imminent move to London...

...the process was pretty straight forward...all they wanted was a couple of copies of IDs, current bank statements to make sure that they weren't "wasting" their time on someone who didn't make enough, a couple of emails back and forth and that was essentially it.

...I since have closed the account since the move fell through, but I'd go through the process again in a heartbeat rather than have to go into a branch in the UK to open an account...plan on spending a few hours in their physical location - I have done that before and vowed to never do it again. It's nowhere near as easy to open an account there as it is in the US...I'm going to guess the same goes for opening an account in HK face to face at one of their physical locations.
