As a former Norton hater, I have to respectfully disagree. I switched to NIS using a similar deal and it's been running trouble free and does not slow my system down like the old version I used about 8 years ago...
I would add that it can depend on the version as well. I have used Norton Internet Security for the past 6 years except for one year a few years ago because I tried Norton 360 since it is supposed to be higher protection for online gamers. I play WoW and it was constantly running in the background, eating my bandwidth & Phys Mem, and getting me booted from my game repeatedly. Switched back to IS and couldn't be happier.
A few of my best deals...
Dale & Thomas: sampler $9.95 shipped
Victoria's Secret: 2 sweaters, 2 bras, 1 panty $31.99 shipped
Amazon.com: Adidas Women's Running Shoe $17.99
Amazon.com: 3 Doors Down album download $0.99
Newegg.com: Norton Internet Security 2012 FAR...$0.00!
Newegg.com: Norton Internet Security 2013 FAR...$0.00!
N360 is a more automated program 'let it be' for people that dont know how to or dont want to have to mess with NIS and have more control over what it does. N360 is more of a take charge program on its own over NIS.

If you see a really good deal buy now, think about it later!!!
there are people that lurk here all day buying just to resell.
make copies of your important store receipts as they fade after a couple of months.
I don't think that's a serious issue. A serious issue would be if it failed to catch malware or if performance was bad...
Besides, it's better for the environment to have your display shutoff instead of running a screensaver...
I can also confirm that, though you may have an issue with NIS and screensavers, NIS 2012 runs fine with my system and with screensaver enabled.
