I see it listed as "Discontinued". That does not bode well for the deal returning.

Find me another 3TB with a 5 year replacement for under $100. Hell, find me ANY better rated 3TB drive on NewEgg with more than one review (hint: there isn't one).

Hint: Unless NewEgg is full of it, 2 year warranty isn't 5 years.

Anyway, enjoy your 20 Seagate drives...since that's how many they'll replace for you in 2 years. At least you can say you got a new drive every month! laugh out loud

I just got this delivered from Staples. $65 with $25 off $75 coupon. Can't beat. I can't figure out what to put in this, given I already have 2 other 3TB and a few other 1TB drives, most from SDs woot

Bad mouth Seagate or WD all you want.
I've had zero issues with the last 20 disks of both brands that I've gotten over the past 10 yrs.

(actually I've had one issue: I've outgrown the disks under 1TB and have thrown away perfectly good disks)

Squaretrade warranty for new products start from the date of purchased, so it's not a true extended warranty.
(Sidenote: For refurb products, they do start after the manufacturer warranty or 60-days, but this is not the case).

As far as I can tell, which was been verified by 2 independent chats with Newegg, the extended warranty that Newegg sells is a real one, i.e. it starts after the manufacturer warranty end. But google tells that the company, Service Net likes to play punk during claim time. So YMMV, and be prepared to fight.

EDIT: Also, almost all AMEX and quite a number of Visa cards give an extra year of extended warranty after the manufacturer warranty ends. So it only makes sense to pay for a 3rd-party warranty if the extended warranty goes out to the 4th year.

I was about to cancel the 3 yr service plan that I got with these drives, and I received the contract from Newegg:

So it looks like that would confirm that after the 2-year manufacturers warranty, the 3-Yr NewEgg (ServiceNet) does start, which is good. nod

I just received my extended warranty documentation... it's valid till 11/2017. So it is a 2+3 years warranty. WOOHOO!!! Unbeatable $90 for 3 TB with 5 years warranty!!!!
