Bought from newegg. Amazon charges tax for me. Would have got them at Costco on friday for $10 more plus tax, so I sunk the savings into the 3 year extended warranty from newegg for $9 each. Free shipping for me using shoprunner and no tax. Forgot to add I got 1% back from the ObesePocketbook.

NewEggs Extended Warranty Plan

Service Net Replacement Extended Warranty Plan

Does it starts after Seagates' 2 years warranty? Meaning, am I getting total 2yrs Seagate+3yrs NewEgg=5yrs Warranty?

why in amazon it says 1 Year Limited Warranty, and in newegg it says 2?

Got one. Even though I have to pay state tax, I managed to use the $10 coupon received in email and got it for about $86, about the same price that I paid last BF for getting a Seagate external 3TB USB 3.0 drive from Staples.

The reply I got from Seagate was as follows: "Thank you for contacting Seagate Support. Seagate recently began a warranty reduction program. In order to determine the drive warranty, the serial number must be available for the product. ...".

Buy 3, test them for a day or so to make sure they're stable, then stick them into unraid. Problem solved. Not sure why people are whining about quality, a DOA exchange is fast and painless from either Amazon or Newegg.

ST3000DM001:
"Two year warranty from date of purchase."

Had to call (& complain) 800-SEAGATE because couldn't find it on their web site.
(If enough people called & complained, maybe they'd get a clue.)

I have this drive pulled form an external, died 2 days after.

Just one more case of the lack of reliability of this Seagate model.

Most of these have a 2-yr wty (undocumented) but that has been the case with similar drives purchased thru NCIX.

FWIW, Amazon packs better than Egg but sales tx may tip the scales for most

While I really wanted a sub $100 3TB Red drive - I can't justify the extra $70 per drive.

In for 3 for a brand new/first time unraid build!

Estimated for about ~$550 for 6TB with room for 9 more TB. Not bad!

I would never buy a Seagate drive. I wouldnt buy this drive for $40, because of the investment of time and the high failure rate.
YUP. Had a Seagate 1.5TB just crap out on me in 3 years when the head stopped reading. Not buying another desktop drive from them, no matter how good the deal is.
