One guy with compatibility issues? Dead wrong. How about scores of computer and network professionals reporting extremely bad results with Sept, October and November build U410's? Lenovo can't fix it. So you are giving very bad advice The U410 has universally bad 2.4Ghz N, and the lates builds have the same issue. There is a 70 page thread on Lenovos forums which includes quite a few people who work in networking. Please look at Lenovos own forums. People who clearly know their way around networks and have done serious testing are reporting severe wifi speed issues with the U410. It is a major ongoing issue for whcih there is no fix. |

The problem with the newest build, with the advanced 2230 intel card is actually worse than the pre July 2013. It is a universal problem. |

I have the latest bios, the latest firmware, latest windows. tried several complete system refresh, no antivirus or firewall, tested against four different make N routers, two with different chipsets. My chipset is a Intel 2230. It is supposed to run 300 against all the router chipsets. I also ran Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector and network stumber to check signal strength. The 2230- inside the U410 is receive and transmit in terms of -dBm, I get -38 dBm from my router where I did all my tests. I also get no better than -85 dbm from adjoining routers meaning interference should not have been a factor.I made three long calls to second tier at Lenovo. I have two other 2.4 N devices both getting 10x to 20x the speeds. Why so many seeing problems with the wifi on brand new October and November made u410 and some not? I chalk it strictly to knowledge and usage. People coming off of G, or with other N's and a bad network, simply don't know they are not getting proper real world N speeds. |

Lenovo is garbage and this is yet another example.
Another laptop model with a defective component, which they make you haggle and hassle with idiotic indian tech support, only to finally be "repaired" with the exact same crappy part and have to repeat the process all over again. Lenovo may have Thinkpads, and maybe one other model worth buying. 80% junk. When is everyone going to learn? They're like the cheap chinese Walmart crap of laptops. |
|
Don't buy the Lenovo. It's wifi doesn't work and as per the forums it's an issue with every single U410 and there is no fix...
http://ultrabooknews.com/2012/08/...fi-issues/ I would opt for this instead... http://slickdeals.net/f/5563768-S...MP-599-99? |

Keep in mind Leonovo is one of the few brands where you cannot easily and cheaply put in a much better wifi card for 30 minutes work and $25. Lenovo, like HP, has a Bios hardware whitelist that excludes ALL dual band cards. |
