I'm thinking of using Google Voice. I'm curious to those that have used it, what kind of quality was it? My plan is to hand out my Google Voice number instead of my cell phone number. So I imagine when they call, it will be routed through Google. Does the quality ever decrease when this happens?
I have been using Google Voice since its inception with no issues in call quality. I give it out instead of my cell phone number. Overall this works well, but there are issues. I use an iPhone and if I place a call through Siri, the contacts app, or from a number in the web browser than it goes from my cell number. This can confuse people to whom I have only give my GV number. Further, there's still no MMS, so if someone tries to send me a picture it just won't work, then I have to give them my cell number to send the MMS, which, again, complicates things. In the end I'm not sure it was worth it to go down this path because I rarely use the GV specific features and with all of the iPhone integration it complicates things. I do use it through my Omi now for my home number and that's nice.
