Interesting. Lots of feedback on the 7850 posting but not much here. Looking at the reviews, it seems to fit in pretty much between the 7850 and 7870. Any opinions on AMD vs. nVidia nowadays? I'm not really wedded to either, but am looking to upgrade from a Radeon 5830.

regular price is 230... isnt this deal smoking hot?

This card has better benchmarks than the 7850 with a smaller rebate.

Galaxy is one of those random brands like powercolor for ati.. i would rather go with some of the better brands.. just my 2c

my brother has been using a galaxy 6850 for 2 years with no problems.

That's true. This should be solid for anyone not opposed to running one at stock or with only a small overclock and a possible noisier cooler.

True. This one has a 3 year warranty compared to 2 years for the HiS 7850 in the other deal though. Does anyone still do lifetime warranties on graphics cards any more?

The game is arguably better as well (ACIII vs. FC3) on this unit. Which one to get?!

Some people swear that AMD drivers are still terrible, but personally I've not had a problem with them (and you've got first hand experience with a 5830.) Otherwise, nvidia cards can use physix and tend to use a bit less power (under load) in this generation.

If you're planning on going multi-card then I think that nvidia still has an advantage there with SLI beating crossfire in terms of supporting games a bit easier.

edit: whirly - Galaxy have been around for a long time in Europe and Asia (I had a Galaxy Geforce 4 ti 10 years ago.) They're not a 'top tier' name, but do have a long history.

I was going to be looking for one of these for around the $180 mark, over Black Friday/Cyber Monday. This does seem like an amazing deal. The only things that make me hesitate are 1) I don't know much about Galaxy, and 2) I'm wondering if there might be a better deal (either cheaper, a better brand for the same price, or 3GB of RAM for the same price).

What do you guys think?
