Surprised this isn't more popular than the 560ti deal with the 100$ rebate from the other day. This card trumps it and it has a smaller rebate. Sell ACIII to make it even slicker, this should be front page.
I was going to be looking for one of these for around the $180 mark, over Black Friday/Cyber Monday. This does seem like an amazing deal. The only things that make me hesitate are 1) I don't know much about Galaxy, and 2) I'm wondering if there might be a better deal (either cheaper, a better brand for the same price, or 3GB of RAM for the same price).
What do you guys think?
dont think you will find 3gb at this price.. althought with the 100 mir a few days ago.. its impossible to tell if another card will come with some 150-200mir haha
Some people swear that AMD drivers are still terrible, but personally I've not had a problem with them (and you've got first hand experience with a 5830.) Otherwise, nvidia cards can use physix and tend to use a bit less power (under load) in this generation.
If you're planning on going multi-card then I think that nvidia still has an advantage there with SLI beating crossfire in terms of supporting games a bit easier.
edit: whirly - Galaxy have been around for a long time in Europe and Asia (I had a Galaxy Geforce 4 ti 10 years ago.) They're not a 'top tier' name, but do have a long history.
Thanks. Yep, Galaxy have been around in Europe for a while. When I lived back home in the UK, it was one of the common brands.
I'm going to go with this one. If (and it's a big if) it's cheaper later or there's a slightly better deal, I'll live with it. It's bang in my price range and a good deal to boot.
On the shipping, it's not eligible for Shoprunner (but the game is!), but 3 day Newegg (which means 5 days here in central Oregon) is free. Thanks OP!!
I'd say the GTX 660 is the better buy, especially if you're open to overclocking. Not to mention the advantages of PhysX, etc.
The GTX660 is the better buy at this price. The benchmarks you posted are not useful though since they are from March 2012 for Radeons and even September 2012 benchmarks for NV cards are old now. Since then Batman AC performance improved at least 50% on AMD cards for instance. Anyway, here is the more recent[techpowerup.com] standing. At this price, GTX660 is certainly a better card.
