This is a very good question. I actually went to the post office and had it all weighed out. The Kaspersky Upgrade rebate for me was 1.1oz while the rest were sufficient with just one stamp. Of course, this is subject to change based on how you prove you have old software (I had the first page of an old manual). I think that cutting the part of the flap that inserts back into the box (the long thin strip attached to the flap) would have put me under the weight limit, but I'm not sure if they require that part too. I had three 8.5 x 11 sheets, a box flap, and the front page of a manual in that envelope.

The post office ended up putting 65 cents of postage on there and the usual 45 cent stamps on the other three envelopes, for an even $2 in postage and an overall $48 MM.
Thanks a lot. Good info to know indeed. Most people only have the forever stamps and they would have to use two 45 cents stamps instead of 65 cents. I also thought about cutting the flap insert but decided not to. For upgrade rebate, I plan not to use a photocopy of CD as it is not what is spelled out on the rebate. Instead, I have 2 choices:
(1) The 1st page of a 2011 Kaspersky quick start guide. However, it is made of thick cardboard and tend to be heavy.
(2) The 1st page of a 2009 MacAfee quick start guide. This is lighter paper, but I wonder if a 2009 product will qualify the upgrade rebate, though the rebate does not spell out about that?

Actually, I think the photocopy of the UPC does not have to be a full 11x8.5" sheet. Just half of that is enough. Ha, ha, we are talking about saving pennies here now. May be I can make it under one oz, except I have no way to make sure about that.

Haha, you're right in that we're talking about pennies now! I submitted McAfee Virus Scan 6.0 which is from way back in 2001. Also, you're right in that you can cut the UPC page down, but I was too lazy for that.

Apparently, a sheet of paper is about 1.5 ounces (http://www.2-bit-toys.com/2006/03...er-weight/).

Anyways, I'm done splitting pennies here (for at most, a savings of a quarter!).

According to the link, 5 sheets of 11x8.5" paper is less than one ounce.
2001 manual? You beat me. Smilie
The post office should start making bigger and heavier stamps. bounce

OK. After more digging, I found another 2007 McAfee quick start guide on light & small paper with no year mark and I will use that.
So I will have 2 sheets + half sheet of UPC photocopy + small first page of guide + bottom flap. If your post office's scale is correct. That should be around one ounce.

Son of a... since you mentioned it... I realize I the same mistake! Mailed it off yesterday.

After they reject the initial submission, do they give us an opportunity to correct the oversight? Or am I dead in the water?
I noticed in another thread (sorry I can't find it) that someone indicated that once the main rebate was accepted and the upgrade had been rejected that they called the rebate center and gave them the information and they then accepted the upgrade with the missing copy of UPC. This is probably a large YMMV but it's worth a try.

One quick question
Forgot to keep the original invoice sheet. (thought it could be downloaded from the frys.com like Newegg always do on invoice.)
But I found the frys.com provide only the "proof for purchase", is it ok for the rebate?
Thanks a lot

Shit... the Kaspersky envelopes were overweight? What happens to the mail I sent out with 1 stamp only? Will it bounce back to my home address? Does USPS measure the weight of every letter??

There seem to be varying opinions between "returned for insufficient postage" and a lax post office where the letter is just delivered.

Does the competitors product have to have very similar wordings? Do I need another Internet Security product to qualify for Kaspersky upgrade rebate? Same goes for the Antivirus.

Thanks.

i don't think so. To be on the safe side, I just send in a color copy of the CD of Norton Internet Security 2012. I don't think it matters.

I always use only 1 stamp for Kaspersky upgrade rebate without any problems. Never get the return letter from USPS. I think you shouldn't worry about it.

Both of my Kaspersky rebates are "received and being processed". Mailed them out same day, affixed one forever stamp per envelope.

Parago must be getting flooded with rebates. Typically, my rebates (rep-submitted and otherwise) are received and in the validation process within 7-8 of mailing them. It is now a full 2 weeks and have not received confirmation for the Trend Micro rebate. Anyone else? First rebate for Fry's, but I doubt it has any bearing on the process.
