Just noticed that my $35.75 internet service was raised to $46.99.
I'm not quite sure how I ended up at $35.75 but the original installation was a nightmare, the "free" router and modem were from a 3rd party promotion company (ended up costing me over $100, and the technician didn't have the proper equipment, tools, or experience. After a couple of days of discussion, the phone sales representative and I reached an agreement for $35.75 total, with no contract but with no time limit. At exactly one year, the price jumps to $46.99 So, I call Charter and got absolutely no help from the poor girl who kept going back to her supervisor only to be repeatedly told that I had to go in to the local Charter office (it's kind of like the DMV, except without the enthusiasm). Ended the call with, "So, am I correct in my understanding that you aren't allowed to give my your supervisor's full name?" She said that "JC" wanted to speak to me personally, put me on hold for another fifteen minutes and I finally hung up when I reached the 60 minute mark. I can just imagine JC watching the clock and then rushing out the moment her shift ended. Charter's one of those companies that explains what they can offer as if they were reading a legal ruling. I've now become interested in finding out exactly why Charter has the rights to my neighborhood and how those rights can be challenged. |

But my dispute involved a credit I was receiving to offset expenses I incurred in the course of the installation (primarily involving the "free" equipment that was part of the offer, and also involving the unequipped and unqualified installer). It's not like I'm trying to get some kind of outrageous bargain; I just want to continue paying about $36 a month for internet service. |

I filed a BBB complaint because they jacked my rates up to $39.99 with the same speed of 12 mb. If I wanted the 30 mb, I'd have to pay $49.99.
Quite ridiculous. The complaint got me the 30 Mb for $29.99, but it's quite silly how I had to fight for it when I was told that I would get the higher internet speed for the higher cost. Nonetheless, Charter is quite great in my area. I get higher download and upload than what is stated on the plan. Cheers |

Everyone is correct that Charter's CS is non-existant now, retention does not retent anything, their chat is just someone that wants to upsell all their services. They actually had decent CS when I started a few years ago but their whole business model changed now, I wish there was fiber in my city so I can tell these jerks to take a hike. http://www.dslreports.com/shownew...ier-121535 I would love to get the 30mbps plan, but are they really strict about the 250gb bandwidth caps? I can see where I might go over the caps for a month or two. |

I see you guys complaining about your 30mbps rates being jacked to $47/month after the promotion ends and it makes me laugh. Why? Here in Insight-land, we have to pay $54/month for only 10mbps. Every few weeks, I get a call from trying to get me to upgrade to 20mbps for only $20 more per month...

There is the catch: It says, 29.99 /m each when bundled * Cancel old account and signup with new name. |
