Looks like a good deal to me (12 months - free modem - no tv or other sub rqd)

Obviously have to be in a Charter service area...

Wait...can we no longer use our own modems? I have an sb6120 that I want to keep (DOCSIS3.0)

Im also currently on charter on a promotion, which will end soon. I'm thinking about canceling and signing up again as a new customer under my parents name. Anyone know what the down time is for this?

You can still use your own modem, but if you don't already have one, they give you one without the $7/mo (or whatever) fee.

This is normal price and you're FORCED to buy it (b/c we all know there's no real alternative). There's only two plans - 30 and 100 meg.

They cut out everything else and jacked the rates. Good luck with these crooks.

There's nothing like the smell of no regulation in the air.

nod

Been with Charter for about 15 years. The(stateside)CSA's used to be nice to work with when it came to getting the latest promotions (for existing customers).

The new CSA's are all used car salesmen...fewer choices, higher prices, and a "take it or leave it" attitude.

My current promotion is up this month(will be going from $77 to $140)...might just shut the TV portion down for a while(go OTA)...and just look for another ISP.

I'm an existing charter TV customer but my internet is through ATT. I called them today to see if I were eligible for the 29.99 for 12 mo deal but they said NO because i am an existing customer, and transfered me to the customer retention dept to see if they could help me get it. They said NO also but I didnt threaten to cancel my service or anything so I may have to call back and try that tactic.

I keep reading that I can cancel my service and sign up under a different persons name in my househould. Is this true and will I get the new customer rate then even though it is the same address? Thanks!

I've been with charter for the last 5 years, and the best they could do after contacting them 3 times threatening to cancel was $45.

So I cancelled, and reordered right away with my brother's name. I was down from Monday until Friday.
I had my own modem, but I sold it since they provide a sb6121.

Is there a rental fee for that modem? I have a SB6120 that i want to maintain if I cancel and reorder. Also, were you charged an INSTALLATION FEE again?
