UPS left my TV at my door while I was gone. I didn't have the option of inspecting.

I get home and carefully open package so I can repackage just in case something is wrong. Yes, there is something wrong, TV does not power on, nothing.

So I carefully repackage and even place staples back in box ,re-tape cellophane tape where removed with heat gun, place the one white plastic strap that it came with, back around box. Looks almost like it was never opened,

My question is if I call UPS and refuse and ask them to pick up, am I off the hook once they accept it back as refused?

At these prices I would call TigerDirect and ask for a replacement.. or call TCL and have them repair..

Not sure if this was mentioned before... but the $20 gift card given to us for the price adjustment also works on circuitcity.com I just tried it and it worked! I was about to buy something on TD and when i saw that the ending price was more than what was on the GC, i decided to try it on CC and i ended paying nothing out of pocket Smilie

TD charges taxes in TX but CC doesnt.

Also, ive been dying to know if this TV was also sold at CicuitCity for the same price. I payed $16 in taxes on TD and ive been super curious lol

Yes, CircuitCity.com and CompUSA.com's website also had the same model and the price dropped at the same time as TD's website (I was looking to purchase through CompUSA while everyone was spamming TD's website, but I ended up pulling the trigger through TD's website).

I actually had the same thing happen on a different order. TigerDirect sent me an item that was supposed to have been cancelled, and it was dropped off while I was at work. I e-mailed TigerDirect 4 days ago and haven't had a response. I called in twice, but the CS agents hung up on me while they had me on hold (both times). The online chat has not worked since this past Sunday.

So I called UPS' Customer Service line today and spoke to an agent. I explained that I wanted to refuse shipment, but it was dropped off when I was not at home. They immediately arranged for a pick-up and return-to-sender for the next business day (Monday). Took about 1 minute to arrange it, after 15 minutes on hold to speak to a human.

The reviews of TCL customer service seems pretty horrible also.
I just want to wash my hands of this. It was an incredible price but I think these were unloaded cheap for a reason. Glad all that got working ones are happy.

Thanks for the setup, I've yet to invest in a calibration disc, so that helps a lot.
Are you getting 1080p through the HDMI from your pc? I have mine hooked up with
VGA, but I can only get it to display 1360x768. I had another LCD working fine
with the VGA at 1080p on the same pc. At this point I'm just glad the tv works, but I
was hoping I wouldn't have to add a video card with an HDMI output in order to use this as
a monitor.
Not sure this has been answered or not, but if your gfx card has a DVI out, just get a DVI to HDMI cable to get 1080p.

Anyone have some good settings for PC monitor use? Can't get rid of the red and blue glows around text. Also on light screens the backlight pattern is visible. Looks great for videos, but might not have what it takes for a monitor.
Are you using HDMI for input?

I'm using HDMI to an HTPC at 1080P and the text looked lousy until I turned the sharpness way down. I think it's at 25 now and text looks decent without color fringing. Same thing for ATSC TV and BluRay

I'm also lower in brightness than what was posted. Think it's at 53 now. Remember brightness sets the "black" level and contrast the "white" level or intensity. The black level should be set to about the lowest level where details in dimly lit areas of a scene are visible. Any lower and you miss detail. Any higher and you're making black areas look even greyer than they have to which is not good given LCD's poor black levels due to light leakage. The best way to set brightness without a calibration disc is using still frames from a disc player. Something like a Harry Potter movie is a good choice. Animated flicks are a bad choice.

The set uses separate values for SD and HDTV and possibly for the HDMI inputs (can't remember).

Neither thrilled nor horribly disappointed with the picture quality given it's a low end LCD. My 3 year old Panny 720P blows it away in picture quality in every way though.

I hope no one returns a DOA set as a "refused shipment". Tiger Direct might ship them out again since it was, in theory, never in a customer's hands and they don't know it's DOA. Other forum members waiting for their sets don't want your known DOA sets.

Edit: Link to manual added to wiki.

I have the following settings:

Brightness: 30
Contrast: 50
Sharpness: 30
Backlight: 50
Color: 25
Tint: 0
Color Temperature: 1

It is considerably better than before but still some fringing especially small fonts and white text on black backgrounds.

You just broke my SDer heart with that news. I could of saved $16 by using CC Frown oh well...

Aren't all of the Systemax websites (TigerDirect, CompUSA, CircuitCity, GlobalComputer, etc.) all the exact same site, just different "skins"? I haven't seen any difference between any of them.

Yes, they are all more or less the same site, but they are hosted on different servers (as we saw when the system was overloaded on Black Friday).

Most of the rebates are valid on the major 3 brands (TigerDirect.com, CircuitCity.com and CompUSA.com) and their respective retail outlets. Sometimes GlobalComputer is included, while other times it is not.

There will only be one site (TigerDirect.com) by December 30th. This will essentially close the tax loophole for CircuitCity/CompUSA that some people take advantage of.

I was noticing some of this "odd glowing", too. I was watching one of the late night shows (I forget which it was.. was channel surfing), and there was annoying blue or purple glowing around the stage "lighting" when the band was playing.. the picture quality is definitely not superb. In general/good lighting, the picture is decent. I have been using the "natural" setting for the picture. I may end up tweaking to one of the posted picture settings on here and see how it goes.

Overall, not a bad deal at $180.. and will be great if this rebate goes through (I have the TT UPC).

And to update what my UPS guy did, he did the usual.. put the TV on my front doorstep and ran away! It was about 7:30 at night.. and luckily I was home. Anytime I'm expecting a high priced item shipment, I end up working from home that day.. just not worth having something potentially stolen.. and then trying to fight UPS about it.

My UPS tracking is stuck at left at UPS facility, anyone experiencing the same problem? I already contacted UPS and TigerDirect and they said they would open an investigation or replace/reship the TV. Any help would be appreciated.
