Inferior Shipping From TigerDirect (Nov 2012)
just a heads up. i ordered an ssd and this (thanks op):
original sd
i kept the ssd because it was in a retail box and ssd's are much more durable, but the shipping for the hard drive was horrendous. it was in the plastic clamshell pack with about 3 feet of brown paper partially around it. when i picked it up to open it, it easily slid around, banging the edges of the over-sized box. i was thinking this better be the ssd. i just rma'd it for a refund yesterday. instead of getting a deal, i'm out $30, and i missed the amazon deal for $150.
this poor shipping was also mentioned by a couple people on the original post. i could have risked it like them, but a hard drive is too sensitive to risk valuable data with. sometimes damage doesn't reveal itself for months or years. from the following websites, it looks like western digital would void the warranty if i sent it back to them, the way that tiger direct shipped it to me.

if you're ordering memory, or a backpack, tiger direct might be okay. but if you're ordering something important this season and you don't want it packed by a chimp, then you should avoid tiger direct.
p.s. actually i want to apologize. i should have said 'poorly trained chimp'. the average chimp could be taught to pack something properly. to any chimps out there who were offended, i apologize.
