so both my friend and I who did the Mcafee mail in rebate got "invalid upc" on the parago website. so i guess its not just the kaspersky ones that are showing up wrong. so keep an eye out on this mcafee one too.....i bought the actual boxed copy too, not a download for $54 Mail in Rebate on McAfee Internet Security 3User 2013 (SKUs 959599, 957358, 982947) at Staples.
I too was denied the McAfee rebate. I followed their directions precisely but they said my UPC was invalid because it didn't match the one they had on file. The UPC of the boxed software Staples sent me was 731944630977, but the one they had on file was 731944619682. Fortunately, one of their agents on their live chat system[mcafeerebates.com] OKed it for me but this was very frustrating. Not sure whether Staples sent the wrong product (doubtful) or whether McAfee didn't communicate well with the retailer (more likely), but if you're getting denied, you might want to try contacting them.
6:34:29 AM : Connected to parago.ehosts.net
6:34:45 AM : Me: Good morning
6:35:14 AM : Me: Apparently my rebate was found not valid because there wasn't a UPC
6:38:29 AM : Kevin: We received the UPC sir.
6:38:35 AM : Kevin: It's an Invalid UPC.
6:38:41 AM : Me: Why?
6:39:17 AM : Me: How is it invalid?
6:39:35 AM : Kevin: Because it doesn't match the UPC we have on file.
6:39:45 AM : Kevin: The valid UPC is 731944619682.
6:39:50 AM : Kevin: Your UPC is 731944630977.
6:40:25 AM : Me: That can't be right
6:40:31 AM : Me: This is the one that Staples sent me
6:40:38 AM : Me: McAffee 2013 Internet Security, 3 users
6:40:45 AM : Me: PC
6:41:22 AM : Me: And Where does it say on the rebate form that is what the UPC has to read exactly?
6:41:55 AM : Kevin: I'll make an exception and honor the rebate.
6:42:05 AM : Kevin: Your $54.00 check will be mailed within 15 days from 12/26/12.
6:42:21 AM : Me: Thank you
6:42:52 AM : Me: Just for future reference so we don't run into this problem again, where does it have the information about the correct UPC?
6:42:57 AM : Me: Where can I find that info?
6:43:07 AM : Me: Because it's not on the rebate form, and it's not on the Staples website
6:43:30 AM : Kevin: It's the UPC for the qualifying product.
6:43:35 AM : Kevin: It's not listed on the form or the web site.
6:43:40 AM : Kevin: It's in our records.
6:43:50 AM : Kevin: So we can confirm the correct product was purchased.
6:44:13 AM : Me: Is it somewhere on your website?
6:44:55 AM : Kevin: No.
I've sent in 3 McAfee rebates from mid to late Nov (TP 1 user, TP 3 user, IS 3 user) and all 3 are valid and processing
I bought the mini retail box version that they have in stores (box only includes a card with download location and serial number, no CD) -- UPCs were:
TP 1 user 731944619712
TP 3 user 731944619613
IS 3 user 731944619682
All 3 boxes had "Special Subscription Offer" shown on the front and included an extra $20 rebate for "Always On" auto renewal -- you can just claim the extra rebate online using the unique rebate code without actually signing up for the subscription
I got all 3 $20 prepaid cards within a week from submitting the rebate -- now I'm just waiting on the regular rebate checks
Got my "Always On" $20 GC today. To be honest, I cut the UPC off the box for the mail-in rebate and tossed the box in the pile with the other FAR software. I totally forgot about the $20 GC until someone mentioned it again here. Why can't rebates be this fast? Especially mail-in ones were you have to submit the UPC. No chance of returns.
